Where to get a good putter fitting in NJ

So I was in golf galaxy in Paramus, NJ last week where I brought in my new Nike Method Drone that I received as a gift. One of the workers there looked at my putting stroke and told me that it wasn't the right putter for me because the toe was up and the weights would emphasize a pull on the ball. We then tried a 33" vs. the std 35" and he said it still wasn't right and that Golf Galaxy could not bend the shaft.

He then said for $20 they could do a putter fitting test where I could bring in my putters (Circa 62 #3 33.5; Newport 2.7 33" Odyssey #9 34", and the Method Drone that I suppose I need to trade in) and then they potentially adjust my putters to fit me properly.

Conversely, Golfsmith in East Brunswick, NJ said that if I brought my putters in they could do an analysis for free, but that they could not bend putters that were cast or double bend shafts.

I'm not sure what to do. I dont want to spend on getting a new putter if I don't have to. I have been using the Circa 62 this season which has worked out pretty well, although I presume there could be some adjustment.

If anyone in Jersey can help, that would be appreciated.

May be a bit of a trip, but check out perfect swing golf in lakewood, guy is incredibly good at what he does in regards to fitting. Its worth the trip.

Not too far north of Paramus in Tappan, NY - Novo golf. http://www.novogolf.com/ They have a SAM system there. I know a few Wrx-ers have been there.

Depending on where you live, there's also a SAM fitting center in Atlantic Highlands (northern tip of Jersey Shore, just off Route 36). Not sure of the name, but it's on First Ave.

Did the OP end up getting a decent putter fitting in northern NJ? I just bought a used Corza belly that I need to get adjusted. I do not trust any big box store guys to do this for me.

just in case you didnt know,
there is a golf smith store in paramus, less than a mile away from golf galaxy.
if golf smith in east brunswick would do it for free, i think the one in paramus should do the same.

The Golfsmith in East Brunswick and it's staff are terrible... even if they could fit you... run far far away!!!!
I would either see Mike at Perfect Swing in Lakewood or Eric at Golfsmith in Bridgewater.... they both know what they are doing

Got a text from my buddy who was in the Golf Galaxy in East Hanover about two months ago and watched Rich Beem get fit for a belly putter. He said it was the GM who did the fitting for him, and it was shortened and bent. If Rich Beem trusts them to do it then it is good enough for me.

Just because it's a big box store does not mean that the people that work there don't have skills. I would give them a shot.

Real good club guy at the East Hanover GG named Gary, came from the Woodbridge location. Bummer he left. Woodbridge has a guy named Alexander but I think the guys call him Zander. Very much knows his stuff. The rest of them, watch out, clueless. The pro, John, is great, but he's a swing guy, not equipment. The nice thing is he admits it and isn't trying to fake his way through. He'll look stuff up or refer you to Alexander.

The problem I am having is finding someone who fits but doesn't make you buy a 500 dollar putter after ward. I believe the edel is right you need a putter you can aim but I also think that stroke path is important.

 

Anyone know of anywhere else that has a SAM. I was thinking of going to club champion in northern nj. I got fit for clubs at golf etc morristown it was awesome!! but they don't have much for putters yet.

I went on the SAM at club champion in nj and it was great. my putter actually worked for my stroke, them simple adjusted the lie/loft in house and got the ball rolling much better

I'm in the north jersey area and everyone I've talked to around here recommends the guys at Golf Etc in Morristown for any sort of fitting. $50 for a putter fitting and they'll bend it for you.
