I was wondering what the difference is between a Scotty Cameron 009 and a newport. Thanks in advance,

The 009 Tour Prototype has the following features;

- wider body front to back

- thicker topline

- flatter topline

- deeper cavity

- rounded/softer edges

- bigger bumpers

- hybrid Newport/Newport II sole

- large number of finishes available (Black Pearl, Brushed Black Pearl, Black Pearl Mist, Pro Platinum, Oil Can, 3x Oil Can, Brushed Oil Can, 3x Black and Black Oxide)

- neck variations (standard Newport plumbers neck, long Newport plumbers neck, standard Santa Fe neck, long Santa Fe neck and center Santa Fe neck)

Don't forget that a 009 is a custom putter and will cost big bucks. They sure look nice, especially the brushed Oil Can. If only I could get a brushed Oil Can applied to a garage 350g Napa.

The difference...About $2000.00 Dollars and a whole ton better quality :(:):) Now if you go chromatic blue finish....Really big bucks...like $4000.00

how i would love a GSS 009 1.5 neck in Chromatic Bronze :(

A 009 is only made using carbon steel. It's confusing since the putter head is the same. You're after a Cameron & Company Newport 1.5 GSS.

The 009 is quite different from a Gun Blue Newport... the differences above are all apparent, especially the following:

wider body front to back / bigger bumpers - There's a lot more putter to go around.

thicker topline / flatter topline - The topline looks geometric... very easy to look at.

hybrid Newport/Newport II sole - Allows you to rock back or toe down the putter if you need to push or pull the putt a little. It's not as severe as the NP2 which would cause you to really mess up your putt if you changed the lie at address.

The only complaint I have about my 009 is that the sweet spot is a little closer to the toe than the flange line... it's pretty apparent from the sound since mine has a beach.

Definitely worth the investment, especially if you can find one with rare stampings for around $2,200. Good luck.
