Tour Traction Cord vs. Eagle Racer Cord

What do you all think about the Goodyear Grips? Tour Traction Cord vs. Eagle Racer Cord? They're on Golfsmith's website for $1.57 and $0.94 respectively.

I bought a set of the Lamkin Performance Plus 3GEN (the discounted "blemished" ones for $1.49), gripped a couple of clubs, and tried them last evening at the local golf dome. Didn't like them. They're heavy at 60g. The standard size is more of a midsize. And they were just too smooth for my taste.

So, I'll return the unused ones to my local store and was going to order the Goodyear Tour Traction Cord or Eagle Racer Cord and give them a try. I'm leaning towards the Eagle Racer Cord.

Also, while we're on the subject, does anyone know who makes the Goodyear grips? Reading around, I saw mention of Lamkin but then someone said that Lamkin made the Michelin grips. I also saw mention of Golfsmith making them, but I find it hard to believe that Golfsmith makes anything, let alone licenses the Goodyear name.

I tried the traction cord and they are good for the price, but they feel really thin to me. I have big hands so that is part of it, but really not much to lose at that price. Buy them both and compare if you can return to the store.

Yep I have a bunch of the traction cord and they are real thin! Im gonna have to put a couple layers of build tape under them next time to make them feel right. almost like a woman's size grip

I used the traction cord for a while. Real thin. Good for that price though! Lasted a long time and were good in the rain.

They are pretty good, esp for the price. Played them last year. Logo up, you might get an uncomfortable wear along top hand thumb, so keep that in mind.

The way that I found the Eagle Racer Cord grip last night was as a "You May Also Like" option on the Tour Traction Cord's product details page. Today, I see both of those plus the Eagle Racer Blue listed when doing a Price (Lowest First) listing of all the grips.

Golfsmith's website has gotten pretty bad over the last year. For example, it doesn't contain nearly the same level of detail that it used to for shafts. I used to be able to get detailed specs on weight, torque, etc. and now it's hit or miss where I mostly seem to miss.

Their accuracy with certain things has gotten pretty bad too. For example, when I ordered the Lamkin Performance Plus 3GEN grips, the picture was white, but the color said black, and while the core size said 0.580. The ones that came were white with a 0.600 core. Similarly, right now, while they list the Eagler Racer Blue, the picture is black and the color listed says black. Who knows what I'll get.

If it weren't for the fact that there's a Golfsmith just a couple of miles from me, I probably wouldn't order from them. But since I can order on the site, have it shipped to the store at no cost, and then return what doesn't work out, it works for me.

I think I'm going to order 13 of all three Goodyear varieties listed and see what I like best. Keep what I like; return what I don't.

Note/Update: As I was just trying to place my order, I found that stock of the Eagle Racer Cord and Eagler Racer Blue is limited. They only allowed me to add 4 and 1, respectively, to my cart. So it looks like I'll be ordering just the Tour Traction Cord and giving it a try.

Also... This evening I ran across a Golfsmith catalog that I've had for a while and it had the Goodyear grips in it. The fine print on the full-page advertisement said, "GOODYEAR (and wing foot design) and Blimp are trademarks of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Akron Ohio USA and under license by Golfsmith International, Inc." So I guess that answers that question from my original post.
