My Phoenix Trip-Help me fill in a couple of gaps

It's mind numbing the courses that are available and this is a very rare and unique opportunity for me so I want to maximize my time. I have hilton points for the Boulders and blowing the budget on We-Ko-Pa but trying to stay under $125 a round. I've spent the last 48 hours almost without thinking of anything else other than which courses to play. trip.

Thursday We-Ko-Pa Saguaro

Friday-Foothills of Awhatukee in the A.M.

Raven at South Mountain in the P.M.

Saturday Estrella? Raven at Verrado? Quintero?

Sunday-Southern Dunes in the A.M.

The Duke in the P.M

Monday ?

Tuesday Boulders South in the A.M.

PM?

Wednesday?

Thanks Guys!

IMO, I'd switch out the round at foothills to either vistal, legacy, papago or aguila. I'm not that fond of Foothills, but its under new ownership so maybe the conditions/overall experience has changed.

Golf Club of Estrella is awesome

Monday you could see about Las Sendas/Longbow

callaway epic max ls MMT x
Ping G25 15* Black Tie

818 H2 set 21* evenflow 6.5

HOGAN ft worth black x100

cleveland 50* scratch  54 & 60 customs T&A
Cleveland TA milled options

Welcome to my world. That is me before every golf trip. But that's a big part of the fun.

You didn't say where you'll be staying and what time of year you'll be there. That can have a big effect on suggestions unless you are real golf animals, willing to get up very early, drive 60 or 90 minutes (e.g. from the Boulders resort to Raven at Verado), play 36 holes and then drive back at the end of the day. Time of year also affects your choices in trying to keep it below $125 per round, as does whther you need to book nway in advance (e.g. if you have a big group.

You already have two days set with the Boulders and We-Ko-Po; those are four nice courses.

I like your thoughts about a day of Golf Club of Estrella and Raven at Verrado. I have done that and it makes for a very nice day. I also like your idea of Southern Dunes and the Duke. Southern Dunes is great. Duke is okay.

Are you looking for suggesstions of 3 more 36 hole days? If so, here are a few possibilites:

1. Vista Verde paired with either Rio Verde or Tonto Verde. Vista Verde is a must play and low priced. The other two are just okay but close and cheap. (I'm assuming you don't want to pay for a pm round at Troon North or drive to Legend Trail

2. Longbow and Las Sendas are a good combo that are close to one another. A morning round wcan bump up against your $125 limit if you book way in advance, but an afternoon round will make the total price for the two rounds well under $250. If you can book on line a few days before you play, it will be much cheaper.

3. Whirlwind has two courses. They have a deal where you can play both courses with breakfast, lunch and two cocktails for $209.

Have fun thinking about the trip

I used to work at Raven Verrado. They have always had a free replay based on availability. If that is still the case make a day of it and play 36, best club in West by far.

I know they are hosting the Gateway tour this week.

I'll be staying in ahwatukee but I lived in the valley for a couple of years (ironically I didn't start playing golf until I moved to Indiana) so know my way around. I'll be going out on the 16th through the 22nd of Feb. I'm a 20+ handicap so scoring well isn't really my priority (although it would be nice) but just going to take a lot of pictures, and enjoy the experience. Something to tell my kids about until I can take them when they are old enough to appreciate it.

My buddy that I'm staying with isn't out of his mind about golf like I am and he plays at the foothills which he seems to really like. He's an Arizona resident so he gets like 50% off everywhere.

Troon has had some afternoon rounds on golfnow and ezlinks for $110, so maybe if I do Vista Verde on Monday I can get lucky and play at Troon in the afternoon.

The deal at whirlwind sounds great, I've heard las sendas is so hard it's nearly unenjoyable, I'm a 20+ handicap. I don't plan on shooting 68 but i don't want to fend off rattlers and javelinas looking for 3 balls a hole.

Does Raven or Quintero, or Estrella ever do golf now or ez links?

Do Las Sendas and Longbow on the Monday, both should be under $100 on Golfnow.com for a Monday. Las Sendas is not easy but it is a very enjoyable, underrated course. Longbow is a nice, flat, fairly easy course but watch out for the planes (joking, but they do seem to come down pretty low). Play Las Sendas first and then Longbow. Don't miss the patio at Las Sendas, it overlooks the entire valley.

Hey there Mark. I've been spending the winter in Mesa, AZ for the last number of years and I will be there from Feb. 18 till it gets warm up north (Canada). Playing We-ko-pa and the Boulders are certainly great choices. It's just the start of the premium season for golf and to save some cash for better tracks, you might want to book thru GolfNow/Phoenix or e-zlinks.com

Other courses recommended: Wildfire (2), Sundridge Canyon, Eagle Mtn., Vista Verde, Poston Butte, Trilogy (Power Ranch).

Yes, Las Sendas is tough but play the right tees and it is enjoyable. (I'm staying 5 minutes from the course). Longbow is also a good challenge but less demanding. One course I would recommend is Gold Canyon, Dinosaur Course (my favourite in AZ.) If you want fantastic pictures, this is the course to play. Great elevation changes on most holes with the Superstition Mtn. right there. Another must play is Seven Canyons in Sedona (1.5 hrs. north), a private club that fell into hard times and now invite the public, beautiful views and great landscapes.

If you need a 4th let me know, I think Mon. and/or Wed. (Feb 20/22) looks open for me. I'm a mid-capper too and after a golfless winter I'll be happy just to be playing on green grass in 75 degree temps.

Send a PM or e-mail me.

I was in that area a couple of weeks ago. We played Superstition Mountain, Quintero and both courses at We-Ko-Pa.

The Cholla course at We-Ko-Pa and Quintero were by far my 2 favorites.

Not trying to thread jack but I'm heading out march 3rd - 10th, and i've seen some really good deals on EZLINKS. The question is, should I gamble and wait till the week before to book and try and get a deal, or suck it up and pay a premium to make sure rounds don't book up?
If you go the EzLinks way , leave yourself plan B if Plan A is already booked and be ready to book it the minute the new tee times are put up online.
