Late Spring golf trip in Vegas

Help in finding a good course for my brother and I

Hey WRXers,

I reside in Michigan and my twin brother currently lives in the East Bay of NorCal. We are planning a trip in probably late April/early May and I had some questions for those that can help us out in a round or two of golf while we're there.

I can give you our particulars and see if there might be anything to recommend.

We've been to Vegas quite a few times, though have never golfed while we were there. I am a fairly high capper (15-20) but know how to move swiftly around a course when needed. My brother on the other hand probably only gets out one a year if he's lucky. I would be looking for someplace that was nice but didn't have a lot of pressure of folks breathing down our necks - a nicer "family" type course,I guess.

I am guessing we will have a rental car, so getting around shouldn't be an issue. Also, would courses start getting pretty crowded about then or no?

I've seen things like Painted Desert, Aliante, Boulder Creek recommended in other threads - would these type of courses suit our needs or no?

Any help is much appreciated! And if any WRXer there in the Vegas area would be interested in playing a round or two, I've done so with other members here in MI and FL and always have a blast!

Do you have down the dates you would be in town? In your situation, I would recommend Las Vegas Golf Club which is walkable, fairly forgiving and best of all just became part of the OB sports group to which I have membership so I can get you on for about $50/player

Aliante and Painted Desert are in the same group along with Angel Park (OB sports) so I can get you on cheap there as well.

I did see that "OB" designation on a couple of the websites I checked out, makes sense now. As for firm dates, I really couldn't say yet. I will definitely hit you up once we know though! Many thanks for the offer!

I will try and work it around some Red Wing hockey playoff games though. We used to do a similar trip every year when our father was still alive. He owned a Ford Pantera and they used to have a yearly trip there that we would all meet up for. A couple of days with just the guys - good times!

My wife and I are traveling there on May 10th-14th. I am planning on playing while she takes in some spa action. I did a quick search and am very interested in the TPC Las Vegas. But I'm also looking for course suggestions/playing partners if anyone is interested. I was hoping to take in a course that has, or is going to host a PGA/Nationwide event. Let me know if you'll be down in that time frame, maybe i'll hit you up for a round. I think I'm going to ship my clubs to the hotel so I don't have to fly with them.

Play one of the Paiute courses rather than Aliante, Angel Park, Painted Desert or LVGC. There's no comparison. If you don't play at Paiute, Boulder Creek is a decent second choice.

If you have a car play Primm. Also take a day and drive up to Mesquite (45 min). Cheaper golf and just as solid courses.
