Bushnell Tour V2 vs. Leupold GX1

Please help me decide.

I’ve narrowed down my decision for a range finder to either the bushnell tour v2 or the leupold gx1. They are both approximately $250 online. The reviews for the busnnell unit itself are positive for the most part. However, some of the comments that I’ve read regarding the customer service are a little troubling. The leupold unit seems to be able to do everything the bushnell unit can and is also weatherproof. The reviews also seem to indicate that the leupold feels to be a little more solidly built. I’m leaning towards getting the leupold, but before doing so, I was wondering if there is any significant reason to pick the bushnell over the leupold?

FWIW I ordered the GX-1 from Amazon a few days ago, it should arrive early next week. Lots of positive reviews out there on this unit. I had a few second thoughts about not ponying up a few more bucks and ordering the GX-3 but in the end, I think I'll be very happy with the GX-1. Good luck

if you're not in a hurry keep an eye on ebay... you can find the gx3 for ~275 sometimes

After spending a good chunk of my day reading reviews, I ended up going with the leupold from amazon for $245 shipped.

Between those 2 I would go for the GX-3. Much better optics IMO. I have used my brother in laws for approximately a year and it is very nice. My old playing partner in Florida had the v2 so I have a lot of experience with it as well. Last week I ordered one for myself, but went with the yellow Callaway/Nikon (LR550) one. The optics aren't as clear as the Leupold but I like it better because of how it operates. The cursor flashes multiple times while it is giving you a distance. It also picks up the first object in line first. So, it will shoot the flag first before it hits the trees behind the flag. Really can't go wrong either way. I have a Bushnell Tour V2 which works great IMO, but a few of my buddies have some leupold's and they have no complaints. goodluck

I've used both and I have found the Leupold to be a much, much better laser range finder. Of course, YMMV.

When I had the Bushnell (which I used for an entire season, approximately 7 months) I would sometimes get a yardage that I trusted. But, more frequently, when I knew I was near 150 yards from the flag, for example, I would lock on the flag and get 54, 153, 199, 153, 80, 291 on 5 consecutive "lasers" of the flag.

With the Leupold, I "laser" my target once (sometimes twice) and get an accurate yardage immediately.

Again, I know the Bushnell gets a lot of love here and I'n not looking to russell anyone's jimmies, but for me, the Leupold is waaaay better.

Now that you mention it, I do notice I laser in a few different numbers sometimes, I thought it was just my shaky hands, but you may be right.

I ended up canceling my GX-1 and ordering a GX-3 for about $50 more. My course has lots of trees and, after reading many opinions, I was afraid the black LCD would be hard to read with the background. Should get my GX-3 on Friday, can't wait to use it this weekend.

I have the bushy tour v2....not very good battery life. Besides that I haven't missed a read.

Good choice...you won't be disappointed. And if you get the older and not very good magnetic case, call up Leupold and have them send you (for free) the bungee case with the carabiner.

Love the size and love the OLED display, can't wait to use it!

The magnetic case is actually the newer case. I got that case with my GX-3i. The old case that came with the GX-1's and GX-2's is the case with the carabiner. I called them and had them send me that carabiner case as well thanks to one of your previous posts..

Is the TGR (True Golf Range) feature really as helpful as it sounds? I feel like there is no way it can calculate the true distance...

After a few months of research I finally pulled the trigger on Leupold GX-3. Good price, durable, accurate and OLED display is great!!! My first range finder so I did tons of research and product testing. Definitely better than Bushnell Tour V3 imo.
