Orlando Golf

Hi all,

 

Any recommendations to playing in Orlando? I've got a place to stay and probably visit hopefully a couple times the next couple of years. I play to a 14 hdcp, hopefully get several rounds in, I'm looking for some good public courses 'good bang for the buck' (so I can play a lot) and some must play courses. Any suggestions much appreciated.

There's lots of courses in Orlando. this narrows down to my decisions. helps a lot

Grand Cypress.

Waldorf Astoria.

Bay Hill.

Southern Dunes.

Sugarloaf Mountain.

Bella Collina .

Enjoy they are all great.

But I believe that you have to stay at Bay Hill to play there.

Depending on the time of year you come and your budget you could play some really great courses for dirt cheap in the summer. During winter/ spring the season prices are still in, so I almost never play any courses in Orlando. Courses like Hawks landing, Grand Cypress, Grande Pines, Orange county national, championsgate, or any Disney course are all great to play. Since I'm from here I never play these places until the summer.

Courses you could find some deals during the season still, could be the ones that are not so close to the tourist parts of Orlando. Mission Inn you may find some decent deals. Also Sugarloaf mountain and Harmony are great courses.

The Waldorf course is just way out of my budget and I'll probably never play there. Someone mentioned Stoneybrook west, which is a great value for the course, I like the layout there much better than Stoneybrook east. Dubsdread is a great public course that is cheap enough to play many times like you mentioned you'd like to do.

Now that I listed some that I know of, these are the courses I would bring a friend visiting the area.

Budget courses
Stoney west, Dubsdread, Sugarloaf Mountain.

Disney Magnolia would be great to play once, since they have a Pga event there every year.

Grande Pines is a great test for your short game, getting up and down around those greens can be tricky.

Orange county national has a great golf facility, 36 holes and one of the biggest driving ranges you'll ever see.

And although I've never played there myself, I heard Grand Cypress is a great course. They have a St. andrews style course and another 27 holes which the LPGA plays once a year.

Just got back from the Orlando area a few weeks ago and really enjoyed Champions gate (both the international and national courses) Both totally different tracks at the same facility. Booked on golfnow for steal prices.

Highlands Reserve or Ridgewood Lakes. Both on Highway 27 and sound to be right up your alley.

Totally agree with highlands Reserve. Played there for the first time about a month ago and was very impressed. Wide fairways and not difficult. Also in great shape and very affordable prices on golfnow.

Also, providence in Davenport is close to you and is great bang for the buck and not overly difficult. Course has been in the best shape I have ever seen it recently.

Falcon's Fire is great. The staff are top notch and you can usually get on for $50-80. The course it always in great shape.

The back nine is great for pictures and there are some really good/memorable holes on both the front and the back.

Orange County National is awesome.

Osprey was former Disney an was my favorite. Now I think owned by ritz so don't know how much or if closed.

My favorites.

I played Ridgewood Lakes 2x. Very good value. $20 with cart through golfnow. Excellent course. Lotsa water.

Was able to play Southern Dunes for $40 after 2pm. Another nice course. Excessive sand but wide fairways.

I highly rate both courses. Pace of play was very good considering how busy they were. Took about 4h to play each.
