Kissimmee holiday..need a few ideas

Hi

I'm flying in from Scotland to visit my parents and the clubs are coming too. I'm probably going to get 4/5 games in max! They live at the Oaks golf course so I'll prob have at least a couple of games there as it's on my doorstep. I would like to use the other 2/3 rounds for something good. Some of the courses I've looked at have to have accomodation added like Bayhill or Reunion (I'd love to play both) and I would prefer not to be driving hours to play golf as my time with my parents is valueble too. So...I was wondering if anyone has any good suggestion for golf courses not too far from the Oaks golf course that a single person can play? I'm also up for being a playing partner for someone too. Thanks for all your help.

Also I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland if anyone is thinking of doing a scotland trip I'm your man..ask me a question.

I have played both Bayhill and Reunion and both very nice. You have so many really good tracks in Orlando. In Kissimmee you have Celebration, Emerald Dunes, Orange County National, Disney Courses, specifically Osprey Ridge, Falcon's Fire, Metrowest,,, There are alot to choose from. Course are in great shape this year in Orlando due to a warm winter.

The best courses within a 20 minute drive of Kissimmee Oaks are the following:

Southern Dunes
Reunion (3 courses)
Championsgate (2 courses)(when I last played their the gent in the pro shop was a transplant from Edinburgh)
Disney (4 courses)
Shingle Creek
Waldorf Astoria
Celebration
Grand Cypress (45 holes)

Reunion may make an exception and allow you to play without staying on site. Call Reunion and ask for Tony Arielly or Jeff Overgaard. I stayed there with a group of 16 golfers a couple of weeks ago and they were helpful.

OCN and others are good, but would entail a further ride.

Thanks for the advice. I called Reunion but they flat out told me that I'd have to stay there to play. Oh well. I would imagine Ball Hill would be exactly the same

So on your list what would be the best two courses you'd recommend? I played Falcons fire a very long time ago. I think it had just opened. The rest I have no idea about. Whats the procedure for booking? Leave until night before and then go on one of these booking sites and get a reduced price tee time? I take they will try and pair me up with a 3 ball? Thanks again

I just came back from Kissimmee a couple weeks ago. 6 rounds - Crooked Cat, Panther Lake, Sugarloaf Mountain, MIssion Inn - El Campeon, Southern Dunes, and Shingle Creek.

I'll make it simple for you- I won't go to the Orlando area with out playing Sugarloaf- a must play. There are great deals for the course too- look around. Pair it up with Bella Collina- I've heard it's worth a look and close too.

Second round , not the same day, should be Southern Dunes- must play. Impeccable condition and a great course. The only draw back is every hole is routed in between the condos. We paired it up with Shingle Creek and it as was no problem.

The Orange County National courses were good but not must plays.

Nothing wrong with the above suggestions. I am a big fan nof Sugarloaf, Mission Inn and Bella Colina. However, they are a further drive from Kissimmee than the other courses. My original suggestions were based on minimizing your car ride. Of the ones I initially listed, Southern Dunes, Osprey Ridge (at Disney) and Shingle Creek would be three of the best rounds within 20 minutes of wher you are staying. Whereas Sugarloaf and Mission Inn are 45 minutes to an hour each way.
