Help with shaft questions (long)

Recently picked up some TEE XCG4 irons with stiff shafts. I have not hit them yet, they should be here tomorrow, but I need some help with a few shaft questions I have. I currently play Ping Rapture irons with ping stock regular flex steel shafts. Here is more about my game. BTW I already know I need more lessons, so please refrain from that dialogue.

 

I have a very high ball flight (I am sure my swing is a big cause of this) and was hoping a slightly flatter trajectory would maybe increase distance.

 

My driver swing speed is around 92 to 94 after warm up and my 5 iron distance is around 155-160.

 

My tempo is quick (too quick).

 

I have recently been changing from inside out to outside in swing plane. My consistency has improved greatly.

 

I also don't take but about a 3/4 swing most of the time.....because I get so quick.

 

My release is too early.....thus I sweep the ball too much.

 

My questions are should I give the stiff shafts a chance or be prepared to pull them right away by buying a new set of shafts to replace them? If I do need to make a change what would be a good shaft to zero in on? I have always played regular (because that is what spec range I fall into) but I would love a less ballooning flight. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I am by no means a pro or club maker I can only speak from experience. I have a fast tempo too, it works for me. From what I have been told, with a faster tempo a stiffer shaft would help prevent the loading and unloading of the shaft being at the wrong time. Judging by your swing speed and tempo I think a stiff is right up your alley. I personally play S300s in my irons and wedges and couldn't be happier.

Once again, I am not a club fitter. Just a man simply expressing what has worked for me.

My fault I meant I switched to inside out.....not the other way around......in other words I have worked hard this winter ridding myself of that over the top move. Executive I appreciate the input! Sounds reasonable to me.

Try the shafts, you might like them better than your Ping r flexes.
I have a short quick swing and the same speed as you. I really like Dynamic Gold SL R300 soft stepped once. For example the 6 iron shaft in the 7 iron, etc.
Overall with that type of swing and speed, you'll likely do better with stiff-tipped R flex shafts. There are not many of those when it comes to irons. DG SL is the most common one, though.

With a more typical softer-tipped shaft, you might find S flex suits you better than R.

If you want graphite, it's really hard to find the type of shaft I'm recommending.
Wishon Black 85 S flex is one (yes, S flex).
MCS 75 Blue, supposedly.
