Graphite Design Tour AD YSQ-ST

Anyone play/played this? Saw one of these going on ebay for a decent price (equivalent to about $40-45 for a nearly new pull), and thought id pull the trigger since I've been wanting to try a few things out. Had a look and theres not that much on here about them.

I've got the 75X, which i'm putting a surefit on to go into my 910D3. Currently playing a RIP alpha 60x, but wanted to try something heavier in the 70s so thought for this price I can't go wrong, even if it sucks

I just put the ysq-st 65X 45" in my Nike 10.5* head.

Previously, I was using the ProLaunch Blue 55X. My spin numbers were in the 3800-4300 range, but my launch numbers were around 8-10. Even the littlest error and this shaft would sail on me. Even though I am a low launcher, my spin numbers are up there.

So after weeks of discussions with my builder and playing around with different shafts, I decided on the ysq-st 65X. I can jump on this shaft and it is way more stable (to me and my taste) than the PLB. Even though its a 'low-launch' shaft, I get more of a mid-to-high launch with a way better ball flight. It doesn't ballon on my like the PLB (although the PLB was doing its job since its a high-spin shaft).

I like the profile of the ysq-st, and I am very happy with this shaft. Your milage may vary.

I have installed and fitted 4 different stafts into my 910 D3, so hopefully you can benefit from my errors.

- Aldila RIP 60 Alpha: All in all, this was a very good shaft. However, I love to feel the club head and sometimes I felt that I was swinging blind.

- Aldila RIP 60 Gamma: Believe it or not, I felt this shaft offered more feedback than the alpha and was more stable overall. However, again, was extremely rigid and offered 0 forgiveness.

- Graphite Design YS-6: Okay.. Big mistake. I had prior luck with a GD YS shaft and thought that this would be a match made in heaven. I was wrong. Of all the shafts I've ever hit (in any head), this was the most unstable shaft. Though I could now feel the club head, this new sense was futile as the shaft was unpredictable.

- Graphite Design Tour AD YSQ (purple ice) 95: After learning from my mistakes and doing a lot more research I arrived at the YSQ. I left it uncut at the butt end and have finally found my golf muse. Even when using a 12 gram weight, the extremely low torque still offers added confidence and feel.

- Currently experimenting with a 48 inch GD Tour AD YSQ st (low torque)....

Hope this helps.

48"?? Wow, that's a really long shaft. What kind of swing speed do you generate with length?

Honestly.... No clue. I only had it measured with the standard 45 (around 125-127). I'm 6'2 and standard staff feels uncomfartable. I'm not proud of my swing speed (more embarrassed), but when you've been playing golf since the age of 4, it's very hard to break bad habits.

You can buy it brand new from GD's ebay account for about $40. However, they do have a limited selection now. (EDIT) Here you go: http://www.ebay.com/...=item231ba71a94

Offer $30 and he just might take it.

I'm coming from the NV 65 stiff with a average 95mph SS. I play 10.5* and 9.5* heads. Not a far hitter and I'm pretty sure I'm maxed out at around 250-260 drives with my SS.

I bought a stiff 65g YSQ-st from them a few months ago and finally got around to shafting it up to play 44.5" on a plethora of TM heads and I love it. I also bought a new RIP Beta 70 stiff to play the same length for comparison. I am still testing the best combo with the right head but I like the YSQ-st more than the RIP Beta. I wish I either tipped the Beta a bit or had the ability to try the Alpha or the Gamma to see if I could handle 'em before taking the leap on the Beta, as it feels softer than I anticipated.

Sorry, I don't have LM data. My results are based on range and playing sessions. If I had to guess on spin alone, I would say I "feel" the most from the NV (balloons on me sometimes), the RIP Beta and then the YSQ-st, respectively.

They will accept $30. I bought the one in that link, and I like it better than my Matrix 6M3 and my Tour Spec 7.2. It is low launch and low spin but what I like about it the most is my not so good swings have better results than the Matrix or Fuji. Tom Wishon is right, price doesn't have anything to do with performance.

Couldn't agree with you more. Find the shaft that works for you.
