Prisms on Flagsticks.....for range finders

The course I regularly play does not use the prisms at the top of the flag. I ask why and the reason was that they were so expensive. I played at a course the other week that had reflective tape on the sticks...I guess this was for rangefinder reception. I did not have my rangefinder with me to test the strips out.

 

My question is.... Does reflective tape work? Is there a cheaper option other than the prisms?

Reflectors that screw onto the top of flagsticks retail at just over $30... Seems pretty reasonable to me. I'd bring it up again.

The prisms are the way to go. My home course has them, and they work great! The tape is garbage! It will work for a few days/week, then it goes bad. Down the road the tape peels off, chips the sticks paint, gives it a terrible look.

I wish my course had the prisms. some of the flags are impossible to pick up a yardage from. They only really need them on a few holes, so I may ask about purchasing some of these given that they are not overly expensive.

Yes.....you get a qucker reading with the prisims on the flag sticks......and you do not have to be as precise with your aim.

There are prisms in the flagstick, a couple feet below the flag, at my local course. Do these serve the same purpose? Do you have to aim there? Or is the laser dispersed enough to hit that when aiming at the flag?

None of the courses that I have played have anything to aid the use of a laser range finder.

I use a Bushnell Tournament 1600 and it seems pretty easy to pick up a yardage.

Even without prisms my Bushnell V2 with pinseeker works great. Just a suggestion for y'all without prisms. I'm lucky that the 2 courses I usually stick to have them. I want to suggest to them to put a prism on one tee marker on par 5's, so I can see how far my drive is if I point back to the tee from my ball.
