Going to Sea Island in 3 Weeks

I'm going to Sea Island in 3 weeks and will be playing golf for 3 days and would like to know what courses I should try playing. I have heard great things about the Seaside Course, Ocean Forest, and Frederica but I'm not sure how easy it is getting onto Ocean Forest and Frederica. For those of you who have played in Sea Island what other courses should I try to play and how can I get onto Ocean Forest and Frederica. Thanks!

Frederica is one of my favorite courses I've ever stepped foot on. I played it when it was a few hundred thousand $ to join. Now it's next to nothing. So I don't know if the quality if still there. But I would give it a shot

If you want to mix in a more reasonable priced course into the rotaion as well, I liked playing Sea Palms on St. Simons. I lived there for about 6 months.

Good luck getting on Frederica. Probably won't happen. same with ocean forest unless you know a member.

Seaside and plantation are good courses in the sea island cluster. Hampton club is really good too. Has holes actually in the middle of the marsh. Could try Brunswick cc if you get your pro to call perhaps or know a member.

Ive played sanctuary cove just a little south of the island and it's a dl3 couples course that's pretty fun. I hear conditions are spotty these days but a killer combo of par 3s that are really good.

Sea palms is another option on the island that has some good holes. Will be the cheapest and easiest option around.

I will be there this weekend playing aroun on the island.

One option you have is to play the old St. Simon's Island Club (Retreat) as there is hardly anyone that plays it. I just posted several pics from earlier this spring and can attest the place is in great shape. I played 54 holes per day each day I was there and obviously Seaside gets the most attention but Plantation is just as fun.

The coolest thing about the place is the fact you can wake up, walk outside and you are right at the range and can hit balls, practice, or just take it all in on the back porch.

I have never played Frederica but have played Ocean Forest and like the poster said above it probably wont happen unless you know someone. Besides Sea Palms another option is the Hampton Club (owned by the King and Prince hotel). Its not bad and has some cool wildlife around it. Another option is Sapelo Hammock up the road a bit. Its on and around the marsh and is a pretty good layout too.

Whatever you do, when you get done hit up Southern Soul BBQ, Brogen's, Mullet Bay, or Crabdaddy's to make this experience complete. Awesome food. Heck, that whole place is awesome.

I am planning a trip to Sea Island in May of 2013. Should I go with unlimited golf package (planning on playing 36 some days, maybe just 18 others).

What options should I go with? What are rates at the three courses?

It's around $200 or so, a little north of that for the Seaside... $180-ish sounds about right for the other 2 I think.. Can't really remember.

They run packages, depending on the time of the season. You'll have to shop around to find something you are comfortable with.

King and Prince is a fun course in that area. I played it via golfnow. A handful of holes on the marsh, linked by bridges.
