Amazon has the 1600 w/ slope for $297. Almost pulled the trigger as I want to get a laser for use at the range and there are a couple courses I play like Dormie Club that is not mapped by SkyCaddie and they don't have yardages anywhere on the course. I'm intrigued by the Callaway RAZR review... wish it had more than 6x magnification though.

I've never tried the Callaway, but I recently scored a Leupold GX3 for $200. The build looks comparable to the Bushnell z6. Can't go wrong with either. My GIR skyrocketed.

I tried that, and he is stuck at $299 for now at least. For that price, I will just go with Amazon.


I currently have a 1500. It is at least six years old. I have had absolutely zero problems with it. But I notice that I have to be a little more careful lately. It used to be just a half-a$$$ point it at the flag and it would read. Now, I have to be more careful, and sometimes have a hard time getting a consistent reading. Is this most likely just age?

I just picked up a Z6 and I have to say it is fantastic. It is extremely easy to use. I never once had an issue getting a quick yardage. I am very happy with the purchase.

Hey thanks for the help everyone. Got my new Callaway Razr and used it today. Awesome!! Small and easy to use. Compared distances with a friend and was very accurate.

That RAZR sure is getting some great pub.

I'm pretty comfortable with Golfshot GPS for on the course - plenty good for me (I tend to play the same couple courses).

But i would LOVE one for the range - trying to measure out / get a handle on 3/4 and 1/2 wedge shots - that's where a laser would be especially helpful.

My brother has a masters in Film and Digital Editing and tells me that the worst brand of cameras is Nikon, "they're technology is always a bit behind the rest, and their sensors are outdated." I don't know how that is for rangefinders but I don't trust them.

Most of the cameras and sensors these days are all the same. What makes your camera is the glass and Nikon makes some of the finest glass in the business. It is the glass and coatings that matter. A Nikon camera from 5 years ago with great glass will blow away and modern camera with crappy glass. Invest in lenses not cameras. The Nikon rangefinders are terrific.

I have used many different types and have to say the Bushnell V2 series has shown the best results. It's also much more compact than others. You'll need to keep a spare battery just incase it goes dead on you. (it can go at any time) Other than that you'll enjoy the true yardage.

Your right, they have regular old sony sensors in there. However, I wouldn't go as far as to say they make some of the finest glass in the business. Their lenses actually have a "shittload of chromatic aberration in the lower end models," according to a digital editor. Basically you would have to be editing digital photography on a daily basis and working with the 6k model cameras to notice the difference, but they say they are inferior lenses.

But this thread is about rangefinders, where sensors should outweigh glass quality. If you wanted the best lens in your rangefinder you'd buy a Leica, or an Oakley rangefinder if there was such a thing.

I'm sure that the Nikon rangefinders are good and get the job done, but i'd buy anything other than a Nikon, based on the fact that Nikon has been know to makes mediocre stuff in the film industry.

Right now he has them as 359 OBO! Sent him an offer and he countered a couple times and got a great deal. Definitely the best deal I've found in the last couple days. I believe I'll be taking this offer.
