Upro MX+ adds back shot track feature

Before you ask me how it works lets be clear that I updated the software at 1130p last night so I have no idea how it works or how it was implemented. But the new software update clearly said something along these lines "Added back a shot track feature but please note this is not full fledged shot tracking functionality".

My guess is that you can track individual shots but there is not a club tracking feature implemented just yet. I emailed Callaway to find out. Personally I hope they do not add that as I believe when you offer something where it starts to suggest what club to use - that makes it nonconforming.

I'll have to hook mine up tonight and see... need to charge it for my thursday round anyways. Hope you are right... I just want to march off my tee shots from time to time.

Just hooked up my MX+ to sync and there was no software update, just basic course updates to version 3.9. I also looked around the support pages and only found documentation up to version 3.0.002, which is on my MX+ already.

When you plug your mx+ into the USB it takes you to the mx page where you must sign -in. Then go the UPRO tab and after it recognizes your device, the update should appear on the left side.

I did all of that and the only update I found was for Basic Mode courses.

I think that you're looking at the upper right for the update. That shows an update for the basic courses. I never did that because the basic courses are already on my device. The software update window shows up on the left side where your present device software is showing. Other than that, I don't know. Tech support is 1-888-358-5788. Good luck.

There is also available new sync software. I don,t know if this is required for the software update but I downloaded in than synced the device the software update appeared. Used it yesterday was not impressed with the shot tracking.

There is a software update available for the device itself at this time. The new version is 3.1.005, and the changes are listed on the update pop up once you sync your device with your account.

To use the Mark function after you've updated, hold the OFN button before your shot, i.e. before your tee shot. Where the clock was you will now see a 0. Walk to where your ball lies and you'll see the distance update as you move.

I will have a link for the Mac update file soon - for now it does not automatically prompt to update the device if you're using a Mac.

I called support yesterday because I could not see the update on my Mac and was told the update process does not work at this time on Mac's. I ended up having to do the update on a space Windows PC. Also the blurb on the update screen said it added the ability to mark where you hit your shot so you can then see how far you hit it along with scorecard enhancements. But shot tracking is not available yet.

I tested out shot tracker this weekend and it seems to work very well. To activate it, you just hold down the black button on the face for a few seconds. You'll notice that the time in the menu bar is replaced by a zero. When you get to your ball it will show you how far the shot was. I found it to be very simple, easy to use and accurate. I tested it on a half dozen or so shots and never found anything crazy.

It seems to work very well. For me personally I would never use it nor would I use any sort of system where it tracked the club I hit and how far and then suggested a club to use. Too much work for me and frankly, I dont need a GPS unit to suggest what club to hit.
