Eastern St. Paul (MN) golf courses

I might be heading to the St. Paul-area (Maplewood, to be exact) for work in October. Looking for golf courses nearby. Ideally, up to $40 walking rate--but I'd be wiling to go higher if it's justified. Double bonus if there are discounts if you play 36 in one day.

 

Heated golf range facilities suggestions also welcome.

 

In addition, looking for nearby casinos that spread poker games.

Hello 3M employee! ; ). You will be minutes from one of the best facilities in the state in Stone Ridge: www.stoneridgegc.com. In October, you should still be fine without a heated range but check out Country Air in Lake Elmo or the Goodrich Golf some if you feel it's too cold.

I was partially kidding about 3m but chances are good! If you are an employee, the own their own course, Tartan Park. 3M employees can play it fairly cheap and it's a nice course. Formally private to employees, recently opened to non employees. It's close in Lake Elmo as well.

Casinos are at least 40 minutes away.

Not 3M, unfortunately, but another Fortune 500 company with lots of operations in Minnesota, as well as mainly states west of the Mississippi.

Thanks for the Stone Ridge suggestion, but it looks a tad pricey (and I'll certainly give it a look). I saw the Ponds at Battle Creek, Keller, Phelan, Applewood Hills and Oak Marsh.

Tartan Park definitely looks nice! Will also have a look at that.

I know this is an old thread. But I moved to Colorado from Stillwater, MN. Stoneridge is one of my favorite courses of all time. I know its spendy but I think a membership can be had for around 3k. Oak marsh is ok. Applewood hills is lame in my opinion. There are a lot of courses, so take your pick. If you want a really good experience go to Hudson WI and play Troy Burne. Old Nationwide stop. Crazy hard.

On the east side I'll also throw in Logger's Trail, Oak Glen and Eagle Valley. Logger's is probably the nicest of those three, but Oak Glen has great twilight rates and Eagle Valley is usually in pretty nice shape.

Oak Marsh is fun, and they have some of the best on cart GPS screens of any couse I've played. It's not an extremely challenging course though.

If you are looking for a decent deal on a membership I would check out Logger's though. They have reciprocity at Sawmill, Mississippi Dunes and Northfork so it's like 4 course for the price of one.

Sorry. I wasn't looking for a membership or anything. I was potentially going out there on an extended (3-week-ish) "business trip" (i.e., if the union went on strike, I get to do their job until a contract agreement is reached) in the fall and just looking for some places to play on the weekends.

Anyways, I'm changing companies, so I don't think I'll be heading there anytime soon with my golf clubs.
