They better. TMs second coming of the RBZ fwy line will max out in COR so Cally better do the same if they want to compete in that market.

The closest thing Callaway has ever come to a fairway wood with a .830 COR was the ERC Hot/Steelhead IV that was released in Asia. The slot in the bottom of the clubhead is not covered with a patent, so why not use it. The slot on top is a patent owned by Adams.

It is nice to see the fairway wood picture again. Hopefully it is here to stay…. I like the look of the iron as well and I cannot wait to see the new forged iron! Hurry up January 15, 2013!

there was no talk of a forged iron when I spoke to the callaway rep. so i have no idea.

I dont think so. No need for tacky looking aesthetics to design quality hot faces. Ask Wishon, Exotics, Ashton, KZG, Alpha, and more. They all designed hicor fairway woods without funky hood ornaments so to speak. Velocity Slot was a brilliant marketing strategy, but Adams designers certainky didnt need it in order to get a hot face. Remember their BTY Combo Brazed TI fairway about 4 or 5 years ago? That thing was insanely hot.

No. You can make an extremely hot face with Carpenter Steel and other alloys, although beta TI is useful. It's a combination of things not the least of which is how thin they can manufacture the face in turn giving it a rebount or trampoline like effect.

+1 on the Adams BTY.

At one point I had my Tour Issue BTY along with the RBZ Tour and XTD all in 14.5 degree, all the same identical shaft and playing to the same length and swingweight. The RBZ and XTD were both shorter than the BTY and they didn't sound/feel nearly as good either.

My BTY looks like it's been through a war but it's going nowhere!!
