Clubfitting in CT

Know of a good clubfitter in CT? I'd like to get new shafts for my irons.

I know Chris Cote's shop does free fittings but haven't heard anything about their service quality and their closest shop is an hour north of me.

I haven't been fit at Cote's, but their service in the retail shop and the used shop is great. I'm sure that would probably translate to the fittings as well. They have a lot of years of experience working there as well.

Prove It Golf in Wethersfield. Owner Todd Daignault is as experienced and meticulous as you can ask for. Great to work with.

I was hoping for someplace in southern CT! Might just end up going to Cote's though.

Now for a follow-up question, know of a good clubmaker in the area? I would guess Cote's does decent work in that regard as well?

Steve at Cote's is a very good clubmaker. I have had quite a few clubs done by him at Cote's and at Golfer's Warehouse where he was before Cote's. Also Todd at prove it golf is very good. I would go see him to get fitted over Cote's. It's not free but you will definitely be fit properly.

Steve at Cote's is as experienced as anyone. Todd is awesome for high end shafts from a knowledge and fitting perspective. If Max is still at GG in Milford (formerly at Custom Golf in Stamford / Gold Psychos) he has done some serious high end work for me over the years. I just haven't seen him in the store the past 2-3 visits.

Jarrett Garner at Garner golf in Fairfield. He has his own shop near the train station and does fitting and club building/repair.

If you go to Cote's, Steve has mid-week hours only. I've brought clubs in on a saturday to have my loft/lies checked and they say they can't do it until Tuesday when he gets in. Apparently they don't want to teach their staff how to use an electric loft/lie machine. So for that I will save the 35 min drive and pay Dick's that will do it on the spot.

Other than that, they have been great for everything else I have been there for, including being in their fitting area. May head down there in the spring to try out the 913. They have a very liberal demo policy because I think I demo'ed every iron they have this summer.

I'm just seeing this now. Garner Golf is the way to go. Jerret is awesome, down to earth and looking to get you into the right equipment. His shop is conveniently located and seems to be the golf hangout most of the time, too. Jerret will bend over backwards to make you happy. I can't recommend him enough. You won't be disappointed at all.

I would go to Todd at Prove It Golf in wethersfield.........steve at cote's is good at doing work you request or ask for (reshaft, loft, lie, soft step, hard step).....but i feel steve is limited by his inability to directly analyze a customers swing.....blame it on the shop setup........but todd can fit way better, normally when a customer wants a modification that will effect shaft or club performance, todd will put them on the monitor, look at the swing, the type of player, tempos, striking etc. i noticed not all his suggestions come from numbers on a launch monitor but from every aspect of a players game........i have a violent swing, several orthopedic injuries and my swing is repeatable......im also very short......ever since i turned my bag fitting over to todd.........my scores got lower from his changes to my clubs....and i havent disliked one modification a bit........even better his prices are fair......
