2013 Complete PGA Tour Equipment Changes - Top page 1 for all changes

The big question is Do any of these guys make you want to buy the brand of equipment they are using? Would any of you change the clubs in your bag just because one of these guys change?
Absolutely not. I would play any tour pro's bag... Their stuff is not retail stuff, so the changes that they make are hardly a big deal that everyone makes it out to be. Watney will try driver and shaft combos out until he finds one that gives him the numbers he wants... Same will any pro on tour that switches to a new company...

Anybody know when Dustin Johnson's contract is up with Taylormade? Heard from a usually reliable source that he would be switching in 2013, but appears to be getting no buzz. So maybe not.
No way. On the cover of the new Golf Digest in full 2013 TMAG, head to toe.

Seung-yul Noh and David Duval are the two screenshots to the right of Rory.
Negative. The one on the right is female. The silohette has earrings on.
Its Thorbjorn Olesen. He played with Tiger in the third round of the British open this past year.
he's still on the srixon website just now
So is Rory on the oakley website
And George Mcneill is still on Clevelands website.
I would consider Tom Lewis as well then, he's still on the ping but might not have taken him off yet, likewise with the others

I doubt Nike will use DD in the new ads. His deal is far different from the athlete images shown. Plus, DD has no status this year. 2013 is all about getting fit and healthy, and regaining PGA Tour status for DD, while playing Nike equipment and ball, and wearing Nike apparel and shoes.

Well, essentially it is. Sure they make tweaks to the swingweight, maybe hotmelt a little, but it's not like the heads they use on tour are made a different way or of different materials than what you buy in a store.

Quick summation, It's essentially they same, only the tour stuff is measured and sorted , which does have a benefit if your looking for an exact spec. But there are no secrete second product lines. With the exception of some prototype gear that does make it to retail, but marked as PROTOtype

Would you care to place a friendly wager on it? Stanley, Watney, Rory, Noh, and McNeil were the 5 PGA tour signings Nike has made for 2013. The height of the players doesn't matter. It's a waist up shot where they all are around the same height. Why would they not inlcude McNeil and replace him with a LPGA player? Unless it's Tseng or Creamer, which it's not.

I don't think Titleist even cares if they lose players anymore. They refuse to overpay (for what that means these days) and still sell the crap out of their stuff. PING is the same way. I kind of commend those companies. That being said, Nike has certainly made some huge moves. It will be interesting to see how much more they sell since the viewing public will be seeing their swoosh almost 24/7 on tv. I think Ryan Moore was a nice pick up for TaylorMade he always seems to have some really nice showings in a good number of events.
No! Titleist doesn't "sell the crap out of their stuff"! They sell fewer irons than Mizuno which makes them 6th or 7th in iron sales. Acushnet Golf (parent company) sells balls, shoes and gloves. Their club business is actually very small in the real world. Their market share in golf sales is about the same or slightly down over the past 4 years. The good news for them is that in that time Callaway has lost almost 20% in sales. The bad news is that TMAG has almost doubled in the same time. At one point 4-5 years ago all three were about the same size in sales dollars for all products.

Why would Webb go from Polo to Izod??? Did the folks at Polo not want to pay him or did he walk away for more $$$ from Izod?
I'm guessing he's getting more dough from Izod. Polo is traditionally not a sporty brand, it's a fashion house. Most fashion brands make money from their lower line (cotton shirts with huge logos) to fund their higher ends. Izod on the other hand is redoing it's image. Maybe trying to target the younger crowd.

I would not agree; titleist sells a good amount of irons, wedges, and drivers to amatures the compete at a high level. If you look at some of pictures in the amature tournaments on this site you will see a vast majority play titleist. I do agree that they have gone down in marketing but there quality is top notch.

Ask yourself the last time you saw "tour issue" titleist stuff on the BST? They make quality stuff for both the amature and professional.

Jut my 2 cents!

It's definitely Rory, Watney, Stanley, and Noh. The last person is not Duval b/c his game is gone at this point. I doubt McNeil due to his age and relevance...

Well you can choose to not agree, but facts are facts. These are not my opinions.
There may be a fair amount of Titleist irons in bags you may see a lot in College players because Acushnet and Ping are the biggest contributors (read: free and promotional) to Collegiate golf programs and top amateurs because they can legally do so now. Among older good amateurs you may see a lot usually not new irons and that doesn't mean sales. The club changed the most is the driver and TM rules there and that means sales. Ping sells a lot more clubs that Titleist by the way. For the past decade+ Callaway has sold more irons than anybody and everybody. It wasn't until the second half of the 90's that Titleist really had any driver/wood business at all. The perception and the reality of sales are quite different in some cases.
As for quality this isn't an issue but Titleist has lagged in the areas of technology and innovation and it has left them far behind in club sales with TMAG, Callaway (still despite falling market share), Nike and Ping all doing more than Titleist (Mizuno more irons but less woods than Titleist).

Well, essentially it is. Sure they make tweaks to the swingweight, maybe hotmelt a little, but it's not like the heads they use on tour are made a different way or of different materials than what you buy in a store.

The guys on the callayway tripped again covered this beloved topic(robo post - very good inquiry @ the cally hq intonthisntopic) pg67

http://www.golfwrx.c...age__st__1980

Quick summation, It's essentially they same, only the tour stuff is measured and sorted , which does have a benefit if your looking for an exact spec. But there are no secrete second product lines. With the exception of some prototype gear that does make it to retail, but marked as PROTOtype
100% correct. This was literally said in the same conversation we had with Nick while at Callaway. Phil's hybrid from a few years ago is a prime example. Outside of that, everything is the same. RFX (insert Tour Player here) plays = RFX you and me buy at the store.

They test each club to make sure it's within correct COR limits and will measure the face at different points to make sure the loft is correct in the correct spot. Example...if they know Phil hits the ball slightly on the toe, they'll measure that spot on the face to get him the loft he wants that will produce the best results.

I guess the other example would be golf balls. The ball Phil is playing with is not equal to what we buy in stores. Each pro can have a base model (Hex Tour Black as an example) tailored to them. This is the reason we met Phil. He stopped by the ECPC to pick up a prototype golf ball for his round that day.

Watney's wife is hotter
I am not sure, I have sat next to Luke and his wife at a dinner last year in Augusta, She is pretty hot and she has had kids to boot!
+1 Luke's wife gets my vote. Plus she's smart so she won't drag you down later lol.

It's definitely Rory, Watney, Stanley, and Noh. The last person is not Duval b/c his game is gone at this point. I doubt McNeil due to his age and relevance...
It's McNeil. You can doubt it all you want. Your doubt won't change FACT it's McNeil.
Its spelled McNeill by the way :taunt:

I would enjoy any kind of document that you can produce that shows these numbers. Thanks in advance.

Every time we ask GolfWRX which company they would choose for a one club deal Titleist always wins the poll. Not saying this translates into sales but I would be greatly surprised if Mizuno sold more irons sets than Titleist does. TaylorMade and Nike Golf are also a drop in the bucket behind the rest of their product.

I've been in the business and would very much enjoy for someone (you since you have obviously seen it) to produce something that shows what you've posted as far as sales by category.

Also, the top amateurs and college players can play whatever they want to play for any company. Its a choice, I know and am around quite a number of them. Don't think for one second that a guy on a top Division 1 college team couldn't get any other OEM's product.

Negative. The one on the right is female. The silohette has earrings on.

Its Thorbjorn Olesen. He played with Tiger in the third round of the British open this past year.

To the right of Rory is Seung Yul Noh and George McNeil.

Cant be George, he is 6'2 and does not wear ear rings. if you open pic the last person on right has ear rings. :stop:

Would you care to place a friendly wager on it? Stanley, Watney, Rory, Noh, and McNeil were the 5 PGA tour signings Nike has made for 2013. The height of the players doesn't matter. It's a waist up shot where they all are around the same height. Why would they not inlcude McNeil and replace him with a LPGA player? Unless it's Tseng or Creamer, which it's not.
Sure would! Just got a text from one of his best buddies who is a Tour Rep and he said he was still with Srixon/Cleveland. He did wear Nike shoes last time I played with him.
Does this look like the last person in the Nike ad?

I got those 5 names from a Nike employee after the national sales meeting who is in the know. It is very possible he could be wrong. We shall see.

^^^^ McNeill is playing this week. Wouldn't they have already announced him? Would kind of defeat the purpose to have him play this week and not announce him until next week.
