Also on the Miura bandwagon

Hi all,

I thought I'd show you my version of CB-501s and New Wedge.

These were custom built for me by Bill at CompuGolf. He's even fitter of the month for Miura for January... their work is excellent, and a very high standard.

The shafts are all C-Taper X's, Iomic grips, and they start at D5; I like 'em heavy. I did the paint fills myself, and obviously they've had a few rounds in them.

I can't recommend Bill more highly. Call 'em.

14 Pings. Blueprints are incredibly good. Fetch is the most underrated putter on the market. Don't @ me.

Nice looking sticks. How do you like them and what did they replace?
[/quote]

They are replacing G15s. I did a complete swing overhaul, and the offset was wrong. I also moved up to X from S, so I'm reshafting the G15s as my "travel" set.

As for the heads, I love them. They are very smooth-feeling on good strikes, but harsh when I don't swing fast enough. I'm getting used to it, and working up to the swing speed being consistent. The overhaul has added about 20mph to my clubhead in mid-irons, so I'm about 32 yards farther with a 5i. But when I miss, sometimes I'll get bees in the hands. It has everything to do with the C-Tapers and not having anything dampening.

The iron heads though... great. The one thing I can tell you though is the 53* is already the best club I have ever owned. I don't know why, I don't know how, but there is voodoo in it I cannot explain. If you want to dip your toe in the water, just get one of these new-wedge series for your gap wedge. The irons are nice, and I'm dialing in distances still, but I also switched from 44-49-54-59 down to 47-53-59. I know everyone says get a bunch of wedges, but by focusing on one club from 105 to 25 yards, I have really started to get dialed in - better than when I was making too many choices.

My P is my 125-106, and my 59* is my thick-or-sand rescue. Everything else goes through one club, and the results have been great. Probably not for everyone, but for me it has taken a lot of the decision-making away. I'm fine with the decisions, but they make you alter a lot more than if you have one club, one option, and one focus. I hit that club 15 times a round, and if there's anything you need to be getting that's quality, it's your wedge (and putter). Call Bill, have him build you a wedge, and when you see the results this year, you'll want the 501's too.

That's great. I play C-tapers too right now although I am switching to Areotech Steelfibers in the set I have ordered. I have also switched from 46-50-55-60 to fewer wedges. My new set will have a 48 PW so I switched to 53 and 58. I already have the wedges in the bag so I am playing with 13 clubs right now and I totally agree, I am liking the 53 - 58 combo better than my old 50-55-60 setup. It has simplified some things. Good luck, if I would go to Miura your setup would be something I would like or Steelfibers or maybe the blades. I wish I had the extra $3600 to build a coupld of sets lol

Welcome to the club!!! Nice sticks man! I bet swinging those X's feel like rebar! Lol those are some stout shafts. Clubs look great! Enjoy!

Until I've hit 50 balls and stretched, that stuff is rebar! Once I get going though, it keeps going and going and going...

Got in 54 holes with the new wedge series and very impressed. Not the easiest time for wedge shots around here so getting good testing in with bare lies, dormant grass, rock hard greens will payoff come spring time.
Went with the wedge series due to the classic look and thought new Miura technology was worth a try.
Got the kbs c taper and feel is a little different than old DG's, pure but also a bit stiff with the X but guess that will take some getting used to.
Feel, turf interaction and performance are great so far, look amazing as well.
