True Linkswear Proto

Sorry for the old post bump, but I wanted to thank Rob and company for such a great product. Picked up a pair of 2012 Tours a few months ago and haven't looked back; best golf shoes (maybe shoe, period) ever. Recently added a pair of 2012 Stealths and walked 18 in them out of them; I wind up taking them off and giving playing partners who invariably ask about them a closer look while we're waiting to hit. Just got back from four days of travel with the Stealths being the only pair of shoes I packed and wore for the whole time. Have.a pair of 2012 PHXs on the way; that'll make 3 pair and I can see adding 2013 Chukkas, Protos and/or Senseis to the mix.

You have built a better mouse trap, guys; one that's a godsend for the walking golfer.

Can someone please tell me if I can use an orthotic with the proto? Is the insole removable?
Thank you
I don't own a pair of Protos, but the insole is removable on my Tours, Stealths and PHXs so I'd have to believe that's the case throughout the line. I don't use orthotics, but you should be able to use them. Of course, that'd defeat the zero drop / barefoot concept inherent in the design.

Exactly. Trues are meant to give the wearer a barefoot experience. Using orthotics really defeats the purpose.

Just ordered my first pair of trues, got some PHX's hoping they fit well. Was not able to try them on before purchasing.
Just make sure you try them on and make sure they fit before you wear them outside. Their return policy states that they will only take the shoes back in unworn and new condition.

With the great customer service that they have, I am sure they probably have made exceptions. But I am just trying to help you avoid hurdles in case you need to send them back.

Any more long(er) term thoughts on the protos?

I have the 2012 Tours and am trying to decide 2013 white/green Tours or white Protos.

Yes, this. I'm trying to decide between 2013 Tours or the white Stealths, and the Proto is in the mix. I hated the "stiffer" leather on the Phx when I tried them on at Golfsmith, and so I'm assuming the 13 Tours are going to feel a lot more like the Protos or Stealths. I love having the manufacturer on here (thanks guys), but I'd also love to hear some real world experience.

I'm thinking about picking up the Tour/Stealth as go-to damp/wet weather shoes and when I need a more traditional look. Any opinions on whether or not the Stealth is worth the extra $50? If all 3 now use the same leather, is it really just an aesthetic choice?

I'm also thinking about picking up some Sensei's to replace my mistake Adidas Crossflex from last season for dry/hot weather.

Thanks for all the info. It is impressive to have this many passionate brand advocates.

The sensei are the most comfy shoe I have ever put on, and that has ZERO to do with the mesh. That is simply a comfort thing
I want to get a pair of sensei for those hot weekday walks. The mesh is a bonus for hot walks. However, I would trade that feature for a waterproof offering.

I too wonder with the leather on the proto and tour now, is the stealth simply an "apperance package?". It does have the leather inside though....

The 2012 Stealths(esp the brown/Mud) stain white socks just from normal sweat. The 2013 Tours would be the way to go and they are lighter than the Stealths. The new Protos do not fit my feet well but still feel better than any other shoe except for the Sensei and the 2012 and 2013 Tour. I would need True to build me a 9.75 in the Proto for it to work for me. 10 is to large and the 9.5 on the left shoe in every pair I tried on was too small. I hope Rob is reading this becuase I really wanted to buy the Protos. The 2012/2013 Tour are the bomb for overall comfort/waterproofness.
