True Linkswear Proto

I now own 6 pairs of trues (two 2011 tours, two 2012 stealth and two 2012 tours). I really want to grab a pair of the white/grey/black proto's. Ideally I would have got the brown proto but the red on the brown doesn't do it for me. What I really would have liked to see was brown with the stripe in the sand colour and a white T. Think those would have looked great and still would pop like I know you want the proto shoes to be. Just my 2 cents.

Let me know if you guys have color requests in the proto and sensei and I will put them in the cauldron for 2014.

We will have a Water Resistant version of the sensei . . . in 2014 :) I wear the sensei all the time as well, especially in AZ, my feet love the breeze. Also dig them for running.

Thanks for the props on the golf bag - Designed by The Walking Golfer - Tried to keep it as minimalist but useful as possible.

Thanks for the info on the waterproof Sensei! I'd love to see a white/sand/brown Sensei look but I'm not sure how the color scheme would work on a more 'athletic' and less classic golf shoe. I don't do as much bold/out there colors as your average customer perhaps... still trying to talk the wife into the Kelly Green Sensei! Speaking of which, she wants the Jades in grey/sunshine except swap out the sunshine yellow for a Tiffany Blue sort of color... She is biased though. Those were our wedding colors.

Mr True. As far as colors go I think you guys do a solid job. I think with the Proto's some will be turned off by the Red tab logo. I certainly don't mind supporting your brand, but maybe some would like if the tab wasn't always red and perhaps matched the color scheme of the particular model? More the way the PHX teams did last year. With that said, I will be buying the Proto with Kelly Green, but if the tab was charcoal or green I think I'd like them more...or is that the possible "Master's" edition?

Like the look of the protos, will give them a look if I need to pick up another pair. In good shape with two pairs of 2012 tours and a pair of senseis, though...

Incidentally, the website could use a minor edit - there is no link to shop the senseis on the menu at the bottom of the screen.

Loved my original 2011 True TOUR'S (White/White) until I tried to play in the rain and soaked course last Saturday. Water came in from the bottom of the shoe and soaked my feet. It was time for a new pair anyway so I tossed them. Are the 2013 models better in the wet weather? If not, I'm thinking of getting some traditional shoes for the ugly days, and then some Sensei's for the Summer.

Hi Rob, I finally bought a pair of 2012 True Tours in Black and White last fall when you had them for 54% off when RYMO won and you ran that marathon, I wanted Black but you were sold out. I played 3 rounds in them before the snow fell, I am in Canada. After wearing FootJoys and Hi-Tec brands for years, the Tours are the best fitting and most comfortable golf shoes I have ever worn, Thank You!

Great feedback guys. We will have some LE protos with matching tabs - we went that direction in the phx this year and will probably do that in the proto for 2014. Since it's our TOUR shoe we wanted Ryan to be as loud as possible with the phat red tab.

Our new chukka is designed for "winter" weather - mid-top version of the stealth. All of our shoes have a 2 year limited warranty so they should perform well in the wet!

Soonermagic - Noted - The leather liner should not be bleeding on your socks - We'll test that asap and figure it out.

Hi Rob
I had a pair of 2011 Tours, and a pair of 2012 PHX and Tours; a happy golfer.

However, as many of us on this board know, the sizing can be a bit variable from year to year and model to model. So i was wondering if you folks at True have any guidance as to how the sizing of the 2013 models and brand new shoes is stacking up relative to last years versions. What have your testers said? Definitely would save you guys on the shipping so we wont have to return for different sizes.

Only real issue I have with the 2012 Tours was that the tongue tends to dig into the front of my ankle... I miss the elastic/neoprene tongue from the 2011 Tours, a ton.

Other than that, I also miss the white/black colorway. :)

Can't wait to try the new Tours if the leather is the same as the Stealths! I love the Stealths!

As someone who wears these things all the time that is my #1 complaint, hell, its my only complaint. The tongue is also higher now and I think the older neoprene lower tongue was better looking as well.

I'd love to see the white tours with the black soles again. I like the green, but loved them with the black soles. I'm still wearing my 2011's but they are jacked up.

Exactly. I like the comfort of the 2012 Tours, but the look of the 2011s was much much better IMO.

Sizing is tough because everyone's feet are different. I wear an 11 in every TRUE we have made regardless of year or style, which is a bit strange.

In our 2012 line - most people would go down 1/2 a size for the phx versus the tour and stealth.

All of our shoes are built on the same last (aside from womens and kids).

The last did change from 2011 to 2012 - but 2012 and 2013 are the same. So, the tour, stealth, sensei and proto should all fit the same - The phx might be 1/2 size bigger vs the other styles.

If you are trying on TRUEs vs FJ I would try up 1/2 size (11 FJ = 11.5 TRUE) - Adidas and Nike, generally, fit the same, although their lasts are more narrow so they squeeze your foot more meaning wider foot might fit into smaller size TRUE because your toes are not getting squished.

I normally wear 10 in street shoes but pretty much all my Footjoys, I fit into 9.5 and the same with Adidas. I just picked up the 2012 black PHX in 9.5 and they fit fine. I also order the Jade for my wife (we walk and her Adidas kill her feet so I suggested these) and ordered the white/gray Proto for myself. I did order the Protos in 9.5 too and hope they fit. I have tried the Tours and 9.5 fit as well. They all seem to fit to 9.5 for me. Can't wait for the LE editions of the Protos. Any sneak peek for the color schemes?

Mr True:

I have the original Tours and Stealth, both in the same size. The Tours fit me perfectly (EEE phat feet), the Tours were/are a tad too snug for me and don't seem as supple nor comfortable. I've basically worn both sets out though! :)

In looking at your current lineup, what in your opinion is most like the original Tours as far as fit/comfort/flex etc.?

Thank in advance for your help.

Primary bag:
Titleist 913 D3 8.5
Titleist 915Fd 13.5
Titleist 913h 17
Mizuno MP-18 4-PW
Scratch wedges 50, 55, and 60
Bettinardi mid-shank putter

Backup bag:
Ping G400 9
Ping G30 fw 13
Ping G30 hybrid 19
Ping iBlade 4-PW power spec
Macgregor VIP wedges 51, 56, and 60
Bettinardi mid-shank putter

wrmiller - The 2013 TRUE tour and stealth should fit very similarly to the orginal TRUE tour and stealth - The leather is more supple than the 2012 tours so your feet should be happier in there - the tongue is also softer. If the 2013 tour platform feels "too barefoot" then the 2013 proto is a good option because it has a little more stability built into the outsole.

moor - We continue to look for a partner in the UK and Europe - Hopefully we find one at the PGA Show next week! It's pretty crazy since we are in Australia, Japan, Korea, SE Asia, South Africa, Canada, etc. but can't find a good partner on your side of the pond where we think TRUEs will do really well. Bizarre.

Yes please. I am wearing the green soles now, but a black sole would be great.

I have a question for True Linkswear. Could you add more pictures of the proto to your website. Your website does not have a top down view. All of your other lines show a photo from this angle.

Also, I am located in Saint Louis and only Golfsmith has True products and they do not carry the entire line. I am looking at getting another pair, but I'm old school. I do not do a lot of shopping online. I will be in Scottsdale in a month. Could you recommend a retailer that has a large selection of all your product lines and colors.

Great product and thanks for being on the message boards.

What is the weight of this shoe?

Loving the Charcoal/Kelly as long as the weight is much lower than my AdiPures.
[/quote]

My 2012 White/Green size 11 Tours (with some mud on the bottom) weigh in at 390g/13.8 oz. per shoe. That is actually quite surprising to me as them seem to weigh almost NOTHING when wearing them.

Great shoes-- you're gonna love them.

Gotta admit I bought a pair two years ago on closeout for two reasons--price and they had my size (15).

I'm glad I did. They are, by far, the most comfortable shoes I have ever had. Being a walker, that is important. I especially love the new Proto and Stealth styles that have gotten away from the "Haight/Ashbury" styling. (Which I don't need to be reminded of.)

Great shoes.
