Dynamite driver. I've only ever seen one and that was almost 35 yrs ago. I thought that most of them ended up in Japan back in the early 1980's. Looks to be in original condition, too. It will be interesting to see what the market will bear.

I agree with astamm8, I've bought a lot from Bill. He's a first class guy who always comes up with some amazing stuff. The only question I have about this club is the lack of a neck number. Did this club have a neck number since it was a special order?

Agree with Astamm as well. Great seller. I've picked up one or two things from him, usually something you never see..

I am going to say it is a fake, it should have a butterfly soleplate and the WW Special did not have oil hardened above. He says it is original white paint but there would be neck numbers if original white glaze
I have an original set ,and there is no oil hardened , I have also seen several original sets and they did not have oil hardened
I have attached a picture of an original ww special that had neck numbers
I have dealt with the seller before also with positiveoutcomes, I don't think he knows what an original one looks like since so few people have ever seen the real thing,I have emailed him but got no response

I was surprised to see the sole plate. And the white around the back screw doesn't look right. And the missing neck numbers.

I, too, spoke with the seller and voiced the concerns brought up in this thread. He agreed to take it down until the club was researched further.

Funny story about this driver. As has been mentioned on many posts in the 80's ,not honest clubmakers trying to make a quick buck were faking all the high end clubs to sell to the Japanese,not just Penna WW Special,but 693', M85's etc/
The seller of this club told me he bought the WWT club from a Japanese gentleman, !!

10 years ago. I bought 1234 toney pennas with a black white blaclk insert. paid 75. threw them in the closet years later i noticed white specks in the heads found a w on the driver and a s on the neck of the 3 wood. heads were pristine except they were stripped and the toe stampings were removed. Toney Penna stamping was very deep . Someone worked hard for some reason to obscure the fact they were wws. Listed on ebay w/pictures and within 5 minutes recieved $1,000. buy now. Loved the money probably more than i needed the rarity. I did buy a driver of the batch of pinehurst pro macgregors. It was an odd duck made of left over macgregor components. Tommy Armour engraved head, 945 block stamped 653, oil hardened and deeeep-faced black-white -black insert.

With all due respect, there is no one that can confirm or deny what came out of the Macgregor factory back in those days. There were way too many clubs and way too many custom options available. A few years back, at a GCS meeting in Pinehurst, I saw a Macgregor Sam Snead driver offered by one of the world's foremost authorities on classic clubs.

I do not know what you saw, but I do know that Sam drove for many years with a driver Toney Penna made for him . He was under contract to Wilson, but felt they were not good with woods. Toney made him a driver and disguised it with a Wilson plate. He used that club to win a lot of tournaments in his prime
