MN WRX at The Jewel Saturday, May 18 (latest updates on first page)

I spoke my friend who is member there and he mentioned that there was a similar outing by some other group a couple of years ago and like 3 people showed up.
I like the folks at the Jewel and its a very nice course, so I hope we get great turnout and that the course gets some new appreciation.
Plus, I am hoping to find a group to get some rounds in with this year. My regular partner has new girlfriend and I think he might not play much, at least for this year.
And I believe that this outing is more about the group, meeting some guys, and a bit of competition, more so than a full bore tourney. After this we can see where it leads.

Ladahl, I am still hoping that there might be a chance to get down south early.
I just got notice from Bos Laden that they are pushing back opening date, They got snow too.
Havent checked other courses.
I checked The Harvester website last week and there was not nothing posted at all.
Snow and below zero windchills again! UGH!
Nothing around here opening soon, that's for certain.

This is what I was hoping it would be from the start!

I know I can't hit it 380 like most WRX-ers but it would be fun to have a long drive, closest to pin, and long putt on a couple holes.

I have played in some events where they have a small skills challenge at the practice area. A few stations would be set up for a chip, bunker shot, putt, etc. Obviously prizes/cash would be needed.

I agree with the triple bogey being the worst score, just pick up the ball and move on to the next hole. I am indifferent on the OB drop.

Encourage folks to bring their lasers, Sky Caddies, etc. As a courtesy, range other folks in your group to help speed up play.

I do like having the long drive, ctp, long putt items too.
I am not likely to win long drive either. If I happen to get a 280 I'm jumpin' for joy. Downhill, downwind, right off the bottom of the driver and run like he**. Thats how I get 280.
But every one of us knows we got a shot a ctp and long putt, eh?
I would think they have some markers for us to use?
Ladahl's poll shows most dont care and a few with choices.
One of the choices is to bring your partner, which is fun and all, but the blind draw does get you meeting at least a couple others.
Not sure, but isnt there one where you change up partners? Cant imagine how that doesn't completely screw up the timing.

They'll for sure have the classic long drive, closest to, longest putt ect. (I should be able to secure some good prizes via donation)

With the blind draw, we could still play with whomever we choose (if you bring a buddy, etc.) but you wont find out who your partner is until you make the turn (best ball, etc.) I'll let Cody guide me towards what works best for a group like this.

Should a fun day for sure... For the replay round (those that choose to), my guess is we could group some flights and get some $ games going

This is pretty much the only thing getting me through this miserable winter that won't end.

If we need ideas for good games I have some good ones but if someone else has a handle on it I would love nothing more than to just show up, get paired with three strangers and have a great day. I will participate in any and all games offered and just hope not to lose every dollar I bring.

Lance, if people want used x flex clubs as prizes I will probably have some to throw away out of rage......I mean generously donate out of the goodness of my heart.

In Laws just offered us out to Palm Springs after my son has his surgery on Thursday.
They are members at a couple of courses. And Palm Springs is truly one of my favorite places in the USA.
And I am so damn busy and too many commitments, so wife and son going, and I cant!
I hate customers. Well maybe hate is too strong a word, but I did mention to one recently that they need to learn to space themselves out better.

But I think it might help my cause on the quick trip down south since it appears we may have any course openings right around the corner.
I was out out in the garage tonight, and opened the door to take the garbage out. Christ its cold out!!

I subtracted in the temp to the handicap calculation and I'm a plus 2 tomorrow morning, with wind chills at 15 below.
This is depressing.
(Unless I was really a plus 2, then I'd be smiling no matter what the weather). But no...An I love the game too.
