Mills putters are second to none when you consider the quality and care that goes into them and at the price you can get them for compared to Cameron's customs, tour putters and handmades.

Not saying the quality is better then Cameron, but you can't argue with the bang for the buck that you get...

I agree. Take for example my gamer. Now, you can see the level of handwork that went into this one. Feel is better than ANY cameron I have played with. Bar None. Also, Headweight. The mills heads on average run heavier. Cameron like to put a 330 gram head on a 35 inch shaft. David's putters avaerage around 350 grams. Going by price it is mills hands down as the quality and customization you get for the price with a bills is alot better than a cameron. Even the price of this one is WAY cheraper than a tour Cameron. JUSt compare the looks of an OTR Cameron VS A professional Series Mills. Both are around 260 dollars but you can see the warmth of the handwork in the mills. I like that alot more.

Either one makes hardly any lefties......Camerons for now do to more models being available unless they decide to throw us more bones!!! I would figure they would get smart and make more lefty models but that hasn't happened...... :)

You lefties have it rough man!!! LOL Almost as bad as being Canadian!!! LOL (That was a joke, no offense to any Canadians)

I just can't used to my TP Mills putter. I love the look of it, but I put so much better with my Newport.

Does your Newport have a plumbers neck ?

YES, both do. Don't get me wrong, I want to like the putter. It is one I restored myself but I jsut put a lot better with the Newports. I think the weight is the biggest deal for me.

Dry thumb avec sand... that's enough to drive a guy to make his own putters :)

Oh don't think it hasn't crossed my my mind!!! :) Here at work we have cnc machines, bridgeport mills, several mills putting it modestly, lathes, Toyoda, Kumas, grinders....... and tons more... If I could figure the tooling to hold the putters several guys at work told me they would make a program to run one.

i own both camerons and mills but i am definatly a mills guy. I like the heavier weights and the putters just look amazing in person. Camerons OTR putters look just like that. The proffesional series Mills just seem like better craftmanship than any retail Cammy.

You do have to find the putter to fit your stroke though.

Hey edwelly,

what kind of Mills do you have?

Mike

Mike - here you go: --> http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64453

Thanks for asking. Maybe I just need more time with it. I really like the grip. I know that sounds silly, but to me the grip is one of the most important things on a putter.

No offense, but you there's no comparison between David's new line and the Mizuno line. The Mizuno line was decent, but the Professional series blows it away.

Got my first Mills on the way. Its a Fleetwood, which wasn't my first choice, but since I have been itching for one I went for it. I can't wait to put it up against my Cammy.

Well, the problem that I see is that you are comparing apples to oranges -- the Mizuno Mills is a very traditional blade and the Newport is a heel-toe weighted Anser style -- one is forgiving, the other is not. If you want to compare the two, find a new Mills Tradition that is mid shafted towards the heel - compare that with your Newport.

Since I've putted with a Newport and my son has a Tradition MidShafted to Heel, it is my opinion that the Mills feels very solid and looks like a piece of art, while the Newport is very nice, it is not as solid feeling - probably due to its lighter weight. Both are fine putters. The Mills does have softer lines. I would imagine if they were both the same weight that Mills would feel slightly softer due to its carbon steel composition. But it is nice to have a putter like a Mills where you can specify your offset, hosel, weight, toe hang and other characteristics for a reasonable price.

As to grip, David does have a new grip that he designed and Golf Pride makes to his specifications - it is a great grip - for me. Ask about the David Mills grip. I'm sure Jay Green can assist you with obtaining one.

EDWELLY: that's a great putter and restoration job you did. Never mind about JGalls' comment.

Not too long ago I rolled some balls with Mizuno Mills Workshop found in the used bin. Personally, it felt a lot better than even a brand new Scotty Studio Style Newport. I tried looking for it at a later date, but it had already been sold, and I've often kicked myself for not picking it up then and there.

Note the word I used above, "PERSONALLY." That's exactly what it is when it comes to one's preferences for putters and any other type of golf club for that matter.

Have you putted with the new line? Ive putted with the Mizzy ones, and I didnt think they were that great, ok, but not great like the new ones are supposed to be.

I agree with moecat and swingman's comments.

For those of us who like their putters >350g (I play mine at 33.5") there is really no contest, because the Cameron custom route is very expensive unless you're doing the weighting yourself.

Handcrafted putters like those from David Mills, Byron Morgan, Dave Billings, et al, are something altogether special from what you find OTR and are very very high quality for a very small fraction of what you you would pay for a custom Scotty Cameron or or for the extreme high-rollers a hand-made Scott Cameron.

And, I put my Pay Pal where my mouth is: David Mills custom tradition ordered.

It's all good and thanks for the compliment!!!

The biggest problem I see when it come to TP MILLS, Slighter, John Bryon, etc is that you have to buy one in order to try one. I didn't have to do that with my Scotty's and I like that part. I would love to drop a couple $1k on some new custom putters, but I can't do that. So I just live thru you guys and your toys :)
