Best Golf Communities in Scottsdale area for young family of 4

Hey Fellas:

Contemplating moving to the Scottsdale area but don't really know much about all the various communities, school system, etc. We have two young children (3 and 5). Ideally, I would like to buy a house in a golf community but not sure there will be enough other younger families? I have heard of some of them like Silverleaf, Whisper Rock, and Desert Mtn. But anywhere else I should consider? Thanks in advance for your help.

if youve got money for whisper rock etc, then you can live wherever you want haha

To be honest Silverleaf may be the best for a younger family, much much closer access to schools grocery stores etc. Whisper Rock is pretty far north and DM is even further. Grayhawk is another great neighborhood to consider while it is not a private club the area has everything you would need and still very very close to Silverleaf and DC Ranch CC if you were looking at a membership

Thx One_Putt! Any other suggestions? I have heard the area where Chapparel High School is the most desired?

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. I can't speak too much in terms of schools. All I have is second hand knowledge from back in the day when my sis finished hs here and what my nieces and nephew have gone through (the kids are in private school).

In terms of housing the newer areas ie dc ranch silverleaf are very popular while the older areas (mid 90's construction) ie chapparal scottsdale ranch most of grayhawk etc are all very nice. Only downside to chapparal is no decent golf in the immediate area

Prob the best thing to do is take a trip or two out here and check out all the areas and talk to the parents at the schools yourself

Seville in Gilbert is a nice club, not as much prestige as some of the ones you mentioned and it's in Gilbert, but the Gilbert area had some of the best schools in the state, and I think they have a pretty family based membership out there as well

What are some of the popular private schools? We are planning on heading out in April- staying at The Sanctuary at Camelback again.

Notre Dame Prep HS close to silverleaf

Notre Dame is the best (and most expensive) private school in the state. Brophy/Xavier are close seconds. One problem with Chaparral is spoiled rich kid and an abundance of drug use. The kid parking lot has more BMWs in it than you can imagine. Back in the day there was a HUGE cocaine problem. Drugs are still big there.

Wow that is scary if there is a big drug problem. I have 2 girls so the all boys schools are out! Thx for the help guys. I will do some more research online as well. Appreciate the input.

If you have girls, that golf.... Xavier is the only school to look at. They have won like 48 of the last 50 girls state titles. They probably have more alumni on the LPGA than any other high school in the nation. From what I remember they are the most dominate girls golf program in the nation.
