Darkening a stainless steel putter

Hi

 

Im in the UK and cannot find anything here in B&Q or any other hardare store that is similar to the Caswell stuff that keeps getting mentioned.

 

Anyone in the UK know what i can use to darken my TM110? I've posted about this before but i couldn't find any of the itmes people had recommended because it's not available in England.

[/quote]Stainless can be black oxide treated, but it takes a different chemical than the one used on carbon. You might have to ship it to the US to someone like BOS. I'm sure though that there are metal treating companies in your part of the world. I know of no over the counter treatment for stainless.

Interesting...I have the Nike T100 in both stainless and black...like the SS, but like the black too...

Black oxide on SS looks real nice but with shipping and import charges its probably more than your putter cost, black oxide on SS is not black, more of comfey old jeans type charcoal.

You can order Caswell Stainless Steel Darkener from their euro site. That should help with the shipping charges.

Another method I've been using lately to get a true dark black is a polymer resin which is applied with an airbrush and cured in an oven

This one was darkened using Caswell

Yes...it's the 90s "designed by" mallet version of the classic blade of the 50s....total toe drop, just like the blade...

It is the softest putter face I've every hit... and one of the most beautiful....to my eye at least...
