Scratch SB-1's

I saw a set of these and think they are a great looking blade. How do they play?

I had a fitting at the very end of November and loved them. But, they have a new blade being released soon and I have decided to wait on those. I have seen the protos and they are really slick. I am torn though because I loved the SB's. They are just a very classic looking blade, very minimal offset and a pretty thin top line but not too thin. I still may pull the trigger on the SB's depending on how long it is going to be until the new blades are ready. I play 690MBs now and liked the SBs better. But I have only hit them for a couple of hours.

I guess I don't really consider them JDM but I know they used to buy their
blanks from Japan. Hemiji?(sp)

I think when they were in Oregon.

They still get their blanks from the same place they always have. I have 4 sets, 3 of which are hand ground from blanks. Awesome feeling clubs and the customization is second to none.

Well I know they all don't come from Japan as China has become their main source

Yes, their cast product comes from China, forged is Japan.

I just sent the heads to the Iron Factory. Bought them for $600.00 on ebay. They were not that bad and I could have gamed them for several more seasons. Don't really know why I sent them off to have them re-done . Well, I guess the fool and his money is a good reason. BUT hopefully, they will play better than my MP-32's. These are my first blades and can hit these great. So it stands to reason I should be able to hit the SB-1's . If any one questions how I came to this conclusion, look at the reason I sent my irons to have redone again.

Be sure and post some pics when they return. I have an older set I'd like to send but
am afraid they won't be done right. Would love to see how they turn out.

They received my iron heads Friday and Jim called me today to see what all I want done. I decided to let them put in a shaft for me. He had a set of C-tapers in stiff that he let me have for a good deal. I am getting them soft stepped. My 6 iron s. s. is around 84-86. Any thoughts on these shafts and my getting them soft stepped will be greatly appreciated.

I will report back on the process and when I get them back, I will post pictures.

Just an update. Jim has had them for one week now which seems like one month. I have called him several times to ask him about the grips, ferrules, etc. and he has answered the phone every time. He has always been very informative and never acted like I was bothering him. So far, this is working out good and if you are on the fence about doing this process, don't let customer service stand in your way.
