Miura..tourstage...Yamaha...oh my

Okay well lets start by letting everyone know that I sold everything in my bag; 712mb/cb combo, stx xform 2 (have 2 they are amazing if you haven't tried), mizuno wedges,adams 1300ss 3 wood and the bag. I had to keep my 913d3 driver because its the best driver I have owned. I did this because I am or should I say was ready to jump on the miura bandwagon.

 

I spoke with the man who built my driver to order some miura blades. I have KBS v2 shafts just waiting for some heads. However, when I spoke to him he said miura would not work for me because I am tall (6-2 so not really) and I am not a sweeper. He said I would need to grind the heel and add a curve grind on the edge so I would not dig. He then stated they are terrible for non sweepers.

 

He tossed out Vega, I countered with tourstage, he said better to stick with American brands, but will build me whatever I want but doesn't have a tourstage account.

 

My goal is to build a 5-pw with blades and wait until May and pick up Adams new iron looking hybrid things (sorry forget the name). I really want to try the Japanese market, but with little to no chance if demoing the clubs what is a guy to do?

 

I know there are reviews of these brands, but I am looking for advice from guys on why they choose 1 brand like miura over another like tourstage. I need help ASAP because I get sick if I don't play two times a week. All feedback welcome.

First time I've ever heard of someone being to tall to play a particular iron.

You need a different fitter.

Tourstage would be an excellent choice.

can't go wrong with the 302, so great gently used sets of heads floating around these days...if you like a soft feeling blade, the personal is very nice, most forgiving blade I've ever hit...

I'm 6'2 and play Miura and I'm more of a digger than sweeper with my irons. They work for me.

Every fitter is going to have a different opinion....just like every teaching Pro would have a different opinion about a golf swing.

I think I'd check around before I pulled the trigger on something with this guy.

I think for me Miura had the best feel. Softest and looked the most compact.

I'm 6'1 and have no problem with my Miura 501.

I agree with some of the previous responses. I've never heard of someone being too tall for a particular club or brand. Go with what works for you.

People are fit for length and lie dependent on the distance of wrist to the floor. Lie's are easily
adjusted as are grind. This guy doesn't know what he is talking about, or, he is steering you toward
the irons/woods he makes the most profit from. 6'2" just isn't outrageously tall.

I am 6'4" and play off of a 38.5" 5 iron. Have gamed the Miura and just got my 909s in from the builder. If you're not afraid of flipping clubs and can get a hold of the TS909 I would go that way first. They are a ltd edition so try those, flip if you don't like then go Miura. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed in the 909s...
