My wife runs into this golf snob . . .

humorous, sort of. .

Last night, while my wife was at the mall, this guy comes up to her and asks her if she plays golf. She replys to him that she does. He then asks her about her Titleist cap and if she even plays any Titleist equipment. She replies yes, and that she plays Vokey wedges. The guy then tells her that one if his major pet peeves is when people wear a "branded" golf cap that they don't play their equipment and worse, if they don't even know the brand.

At that point, my wife's a little upset that a man would come up to her to question her game so she tells the guy that she plays to a 22 index and asks what he played to. The man tells her that he doesn't have a handicap and that he only plays for fun. So she tells him that he can't be the golf police if he can't even carry a badge!!! At that point the guy just walked away.

True story.

I was also at the mall just before Christmas. These two very large, over weight guys, walk up to me, see my Titleist hat, and say, "Huh Titleist - junky equipment". I was somewhat stunned but replied, "Number one name in golf FATWord not allowed". I thought my wife was going to faint, they did not know what to say when I was walking away. Very uncharacteristic of me, but being in the mall during the shopping season was driving me crazy.

Okay, I'll agree that the first part "looks" like a pickup line, but if that's the case then the second part resembles a suicide note. :)

I would say the guy has some axe to grind with people who spend money on buying clothes with logos. He is probably one of those insecure know it alls who have to go around butting into other peoples business to make himself feel better. He probably saw your wife and thought she would be easy to push around. People like this are idiots IMO, I think your wife couldnt have handled it better.

BTW: My personal policy is that I don't wear a logo hat unless I use the brand and like it a lot. And usually I won't do that unless the hat was free (gift, free with purchase, etc.) or a ultra-superior hat (quality, unstructured, perfect fit, etc). Personally, I would feel like a poser wearing a logo I don't use. But that's just my personal thing. I don't care the least little bit what other people do. If they want to wear a logo cap, I figure they've got their reasons, and that's cool with me.

haha... if that guy has that little game... with that line being the best he can come up with, I feel bad for the poor fellow. With rap like that I am sure he goes through lots and lots of hand cream... or he has mad calluses on his palm.. :) He woulda had a better shot with a line like " hey, nice shoes... wanna fu&k"? :superman:

When did total strangers begin talking to and trying to belittle other total strangers over golf equipment? That story about the 2 fat guys saying "junky equipment" when they saw your hat kills me. They probably can't hit a driver 200 yds.
