Refinishing My Napa Incl Pics! STAGE THREE! the after can!

Ok I just got a good deal on a napa off ebay and it came this morning and finish isnt too pretty and the shaft is all pitted etc so im going to try and restore it myself and hopefully it will come out alright, if not ill hand it over to the professionals!

Well heres thes original club pics showing the condition:

I will post some pics of when it comes out of the coke in comparison then I need to think of a finish to put on it, tempted to just polish it like a mad man for a bit and see how it comes out or oil can it because that doesnt sound too hard, any ideas?

Maybe a Gun Blue or Super Blue finish. This should be some great resto project!

Well i havnt taken the shaft out at the minute due to the fact i havnt been able to get my hands on a blow torch in work so ive just taped the bottom of the shaft and only poored the coke up to the top of the hosel. Do you think i should get the shaft pulled and anyone got an idea on a shaft to replace it as its pitted like mad!!

Why strip the finish if you don't have a new finish ready to apply? it will only start rusting and you will have to do the whole proces again when you want to put the finish on.

As for the shaft : I don't know for sure but I can imagine it will be hard to find a replacement for a Micro Bell shaft but that is jus a gut feeling.

Well i think im going to oil can it so it wont be too bad. Ill just keep it oiled until then. Going to stick a UST frequency filter in it i think, not too bothered about value in all fairness, if it putts it putts whether its $300 or $30.

EDIT: Anyone know if UST make a shaft I can use for this??

Now what i see still some left over and there are some small like pin ***** size marks any ideas?

Staert using very finew steel wool to get all old finifh removed.

Ok thanks, any ideas what shaft i need to replace this i want to put a frequency filter on it im not bothered about value as this is going to be gamed!!! Do i need a flare tip?

Ok guys heres the pics from after the oil can I think it looks lush, it was turning blue when I had it under the heat but sadly that didnt stay when it cooled off still looks like a dream in my opinion, the pics are straight after the oil can so i haven't paintfilled or anything yet. I think its going to make an awesome gamer!

Used diesel oil and my stove to heat the head :drinks: my blowtorch was naff!!

Haha it was on a gas hob so not too bad! Still got diesel oil everywhere lol! Just spent last 30 mins cleaning stuff up. Still turned out good im just getting started on the pink paintfill lol!!!

The finish looks good to me. The blue sounds pretty cool, as well. Too bad it didn't stay that translucent rainbow look.

I think you have an awesome gamer for a very reasonable price.
