There's an odd theory that's been going around for 3000 years that the mind and body are mirrors of each other.
yep.
And maybe the body's unease is a way of informing our conscious mind of our subconscious mind's unease.

Mind.Blown.

If you haven't read the book and tried the technique, you're not qualified to comment on its validity.

I read it. I'm trying it. It makes sense to me.

My pain patterns follow the pattern of those who, if willing, can benefit.

This is not about the conventional understanding of "psychosomatic."

The negative flippant criticisms are laughable.

No one says the pain isn't real, or that its imagined. It's just a theory, with a lot of supportive success in application, of what the root cause of the pain is, and how to get to that cause, rather than a bottle of alleve every week for the rest of your life.

I will let you know how it goes. Just stop making stupid uninformed posts.

Thanks for the informed post! How long ago did you read the book?
I used to never leave the house without aleve and ibuprofen. I took so much I'm sure my kidneys hated me. Honestly, I can't even remember the last time I took something for pain. I have no idea where those pills are now. It's a great feeling to not worry about it.
I wish dr sarno would write more about his treatment for allergies. That is the one pill I can't kick. My allergies kill me but he states that over active immune system issues like allergies can be tested similarly. I tried to apply some things for my back toward the allergies but it hasn't worked at all.

Wha kind of allergies do you mean?

PM me if you want a nudge in the right diection.

To answer the question although I sense you are trying to just bust balls
Uh, nope. Thanks for the info.

Sorry about that. Most people obviously have gone the low route and had no interest in the info/opinion.

Probably the best sentence I've seen to wrap up the whole theory. Nice!

I'm reading through the book, it's incredible information. Having an open mind is really the key, I like how this book is set up. THanks again, ncosper.

Great stuff! It's all designed to educate. Reading that makes responding to the idiots worth the time!

Okay, one week in.

I'm off all antiinflammatories.

Mostly, I'm living without constant fear of the next "tweak." I no longer envision life as a permanent invalid each time I feel the twinge of a tight muscle.

Back to back 76's, very good for a 6 handicap.

Moved from obsessive stretching to normal healthy flexibility exercising.

General chronic discomfort level reduced from 6 and 7 to about 3.

So far so good. I'm going all in.

Amazing... Same results I had but awesome to hear from someone else. Getting over that fear of the next spasm is the hardest part initially. Giving up the little things we always do to stretch or even how we "move to feel the pain" are hard to stop, but you will stop those things too. The craziest thing is imagining the day in the not so far future that you don't even think about back pain. I've had several days that it never crossed my mind, which is weird when you realize it happened a few days later. Especially when its preoccupied your mind for 20+ years!

I'd highly recommend getting the healing back pain book on audio book. You will have some reoccurrence. Once the initial pain disappearance has lost a bit of its luster something small (or big) will happen in your life and you will get some pain. Learning to identify those weird things is tough. Using the audio book in the car on those days that you get a little pain is a lifesaver! It also really helps from getting discouraged. I had one week in which I lost both grandparents and my sister went to jail. That week was tough to say the least and I definitely got some pain back. Listening to the book in the car during those times helped a ton. Just gets the mind thinking of the right things, not about being discouraged or the pain.
