I know I need to work on the weight transfer. Should I be trying to take a divot on my irons. I don't really and I'm not sure it matters too much. Low 90s golfer here but shot an 87 yesterday and hit irons really well

You look really out of balance, could be because your hips are moving way to much. Would also like to see a little more forward pressed hands. Watched it again and yeah you should probably not be moving your hips like that, you get no rotation at all, just sliding.

Is it a particularly bad thing? Last two rounds have been my best with my irons so not sure if I want to change anything right now.

Honestly, Bubba Watson looks out of balance sometimes and he crushes it... You slide, but you transfer weight well. I have been playing for 5 years and I did not start taking divots until last year.....so if you pick the ball and do it well, continue to do so e.g. Steve Stricker.... If your irons are well then what is your issue... driver, chipping, putting, etc.

Picking the ball isn't always a bad thing - but I remember a few old playing partners who were pickers, generally struggled generating much spin. Hitting down on the ball would cause you to take a divot, and generate more spin.

My biggest issue is hitting my driver straight consistently and putting. Not sure why I uploaded an iron shot, I guess I know I can still improve quite a bt with those. I will get an updated driver swing this weekend, I only have an old one. I should mention the driver I use is a TM R5 which is pretty old but I can boom it when I'm on. Should I get fitted or stick with this until prices drop on current drivers? I may wait until a Demo next year cause its much better than hitting in a store.

Yeah that's true, if Bubba is slightly out of balance sometimes i guess it's right.

For Pistolpete31, i'm pretty sure your swing will evolve if you keep playing and maybe consider taking a lesson so in my opinion wait until next year and buy a new driver then. UNLESS you got a lot of money, in that case just go for it

I would take a lesson or two then get fitted for whatever you want...because if you keep praticing the wrong stuff, so to say then that is all you will get on the course. The newer technology helps out a lot of swing flaws, but it is still the person's swing that will determine where the ball goes, etc.... good luck man

I understand that you have played some goods rounds by your standards however there is always room for improvment.

With your build you could be hammering the ball with the proper mechanics. The 2 things i see that are the
worst is

1) Reverse pivot. This is robbing you of power and consistency , It puts you into a terrible posistion to hit
the ball properly.

2) Your arms break down at the top of the swing, this is also robbing you of distance and consistency.



There is nothing like hitting the ball what you think is good and then one day hitting the ball properly and compressing
it the right way. When that divot pops up and the ball is hissing as its cutting through the wind.




The best thing for you to do right now is to hire a PGA professional and learn the fundamentals.

Thanks for the feedback, I am on my way to scheduling lessons with a PGA pro. Did play the round of my life today and shot a 76 haha but I know I still need lessons.

If you can shoot a 76 with that swing I am just going to kill myself...

You need more hip and shoulder turn instead of sway and reverse pivoting.

Haha well sorry to see you go...my swing may be ugly but J. Miller says the most important part is contact and I have been doing that pretty well lately which has led to better scores.

Your footwork looks a little better in the second video so that's a positive.

From your first video:
-Poor Posture and setup!
-Very Poor shoulder turn and pivot to your rear foot!
-Because your transition to your rear foot was poor then by default your pivot to your front foot is equally as poor eventually leading to the reverse pivot.
-You throw the club away(wrist angle as it relates to the left arm and shaft) real early in your downswing which is a combination of the poor pivoting and the lack of understanding how centrifugal force actually works in a golf swing.


A lot of work to do but if your willing to work hard and take lessons you can get better!

I'm surprised no one has addressed this but you need to sort that right hand grip out. It's way too strong (round the back). It needs to be much more neutral to allow you to control your club face more. There are tons and tons of videos kicking around on YouTube about right hand grip, so if I were you, before I looked at anything else mechanical, I'd be doing this. It will feel totally alien at first and likely to start you will carve them all but stick with it! It's easy to fall back into doing what you are doing, but if you nail this straight away then all your other changes will become much easier. By persisting with it as is, there will be a point where you will need to change to get to the next level and it will be so much harder. Good luck!
