For My Wife...

So, I got my wife an early Valentine's Day Gift today. Picked up a Yes! Tracy, 33" and had it back weighted with the "Balance Certified System" After demo'ing putters for a while this was the one she was the happiest with and sunk 11 putts in a row from 12 feet after everything was done. (I say the floor is bent towards the hole in the shop ;) )

It's a great putter and I'm rather jealous, it has such a nice feel to it and the back weighting makes it feel even better. I wish I demo'ed a Yes! putter a while ago, but I think the shop only started stocking them as I had never seen them there before. Hopefully she gets many years of use of it, and lot's of one putts.

Ive had BCG in my putters for years now...only way to go. It is a little expensive, ($60) if you can even find a distributor to do it. They have the same counterbalance weights at Golfsmith for $10.

Ya, she's very excited to try it out on the course. She demo'ed a bunch and this seemed to be her favorite. She's been using a hand-me-down White Hot #1 that was too big for her. She didn't need the full shaft offset and the shaft was just too long.

 

Comparing the two, her typical miss was a slight pull and was alway left of the hole, where this one she rolled the ball true time and time again. It's great to see her excited about her equipment as most of the equipment she has now was basically picked out for her when she first started taking lessons two years ago.

 

Unfortunately for me, it seems the club ho'ing might be contagious because now she's talking about new irons. I guess my club budget for the year just got cut in 1/2 ;)

Or you could look at it another way - your total expected club expenditures will potentially double! :cheesy:

On the bright side, if all works out I should be done with my bag once the clubs come in that I ordered today. So my play money becomes her new bag money, so really, I just transfered my club ho'ing to her.

Seriously, good job finding the right putter for her! Just don't start playing her for money if she putts that well on the course!

 

Thanks, but I really get no credit except that I paid for it. The fitter did all the work, she just putted, putted, and then putted some more. I didn't want to be around her and sway her decision one way or another so I was just killing time by Hitting the Sumo2 in the simulator.

thats really a great gift. You really can't go wrong with a tracy. I was the same way when i found mine, all i heard was chink chink chink on the store green. The putts just wanted to go in, and it felt good.

I am glad my wife doesn't get on this forum (at least I hope she doesn't) as posts like this can get the rest of us husbands (who have wives that play golf) in a lot of trouble. The problem here is that you go out, take your wife to a nice golf operation, basically get her fitted for a putter....and I go to Ebay and pick her up a Pal 2 for $22 shipped so she leaves my mint Pal 2 BeCu alone.......and tell her Happy Valentine's Day honey, here is your own new putter. ;)

I actually think its great that you did that. The last time I turned my wife loose around a golf shop I caught here signing a credit card slip for a new set of Lady Cobra irons.

I bought my now-ex girly a Cameron My Girl last year (amongst other stuff) when I was in the midst of getting her somewhat interested in golf. She didn't make 11 12 footers in arow with it, but she likes sparkly things and she said it had a "pretty" grip...

 

A month or so later.... Split City.

 

A sad tale. and she kept the putter...

 

Like the Murphys... I'm not bitter.
