Phil is in Singapore for the Singapore Open, he said that he is using the new irons (same as the one he used at Fry.com).

 

Which irons? Blades from callaway?

Yeah. Callaway released prototype blades for Phil to try and so far so good, i guess.

I know his 64* wedge has 0 bounce.
I caddied in is group during the Deutsche Bank Pro-Am and we were talking about wedges and he said he personally went into the Callaway trailer and built the 64* wedge with 0(zero) bounce

[i]Just a little update on Phil Mickelson's bag...[/i]

[b]DRIVER[/b] - He is still using the FT-5 Tour but now with a Diamana Whiteboard. Not sure on the exact bend profile of the specific shaft he us using but the graphics are definately Whiteboard graphics.

3-WOOD[/b] - Phil has moved on to the new FT-Fairway which Callaway will debut this spring. He has a Whiteboard in this as well.

HYBRIDS[/b] - He is now using the new FT-Hybrids shafted with Blueboards.

[b]IRONS [/b]- As discussed above, Phil is now using the Prototype Blade irons. Rumor has it that Callaway WILL, eventually, release these to the public but obviously in a modified form. Expect an announcement concerning these this Spring, with a possible release sometime this summer or fall.

[b]WEDGES[/b] - He's now using the new X-Forged wedges.

[b]BALL[/b] - Phil was still using the HX Tour at the HSBC since the new ix had not been approved for tournament play. I believe it is now.

I don't ever renember Phil having a steel shaft in his driver, Tiger used a DG x100 until about 3 years ago and he has been using graphite ever since. He was using a Bi Matrix shaft, graphite with a steel tip, approx 2 years ago. Ever since Tiger started rebuilding his swing, and came out of his "slump" I am pretty sure he has used graphite in his driver and fairway woods.

The Odyssey covers were available in red/white, white/red and black/white in 2007. This year they're only available with the "Tour Authentics Prototype Putters".

That's interesting! I've never seen those Hogans! And the Ben Hogan company is a part of Callaway now, right? So this is some sort of throw-back update, huh?

 

They did a nice job.

 

I really like these X-Prototypes. May have to get them just to have them, even though I probably can't hit them. :swoon2:

I followed him for 2 rounds last week at the scottish open and seen most of what was in the bag.

 

Driver - Callaway FT-5 8.5 (white sole plate) Dianama shaft

3 Wood - Unknown titleist with a steel shaft

Hybrid - Did not see him hit it

Irons - Callaway X prototype blades

Wedge - Did not get a look at the wedges

Putter - Odyssey black series #9

Ball - Callaway HX Tour (he bounced it off the spectator beside me on the 11th hole on sunday)

 

I must say he was one of the most pleasant pros i have ever met he came up to where we were standing smileing, asked who he hit then gave the guy 3 balls and a glove.

I was watching the Live From the Masters interview and Phil just announced that he has re-upped with Callaway for another 5 years. He just did it that this week.

 

He also said he has finally settled on a 15 club bag. He switches between the 3 iron and the hybrid depending on the course. He has the 3 iron this week for the Masters.

no, phil is now using the Mitsubishi Fubuki shaft. Same company that makes Diamana. This shaft is more consistent and reliable than the Diamana. I am 100% sure he is using this shaft

It's not anymore consistent or reliable than a Diamana, it has different launch characteristics and Phil likes them.
