My last visit to the Legends was pretty bad but that was 3 years ago. Unhappy and gruff employees, badly leaking clubhouse roof, poor course conditions.

From more recent rewiews it seems they have turned things around (except for pace of play).

The layouts are good and when the course condtions are good it is a great place. Food was always decent. Never stayed there though.

This was my experience as well. I'm a Barefoot fan.

Where did you decide to go in Myrtle?
[/quote]

We decided on Legends. We haven't booked yet as we are still trying to get a firm head count. The plan is to make reservations the first week in January. Barefoot was $660 for 4 nights and 4 rounds stretching it out to 5 days at the same rate (assuming that they would even extend that rate) would have been $825 with no extras. Legends is $568 for 5 night and 5 rounds with breakfast, lunch and two beers per day. The gap between the two was to large to justify a small upgrade in condo (where we won't be spending to many hours awake) and could have eliminated a few guys who are going to now go.

Thanks Sheppy. I will try and write up a quick review when we get back in case it helps anyone make a decision like all of you helped me. Just don't hold your breath as it won't be till the end of March. Looks like this will have to do until then:

That is alot of snow! You must be in the favored areas for lake effect snow. I live near Nashville,TN and got to play today(just one shower for about 3 holes). It was 63 degrees here today and expected to get to 71 degrees tomorrow. Have fun when you go down to Myrtle Beach. I had a blast but stayed near the Barefoot courses at the Barefoot Condos.

I'm surprised the Barefoot package did not include breakfast.

Looking forward to your trip report!

The Legends are a blast. This will be our 8th or 9th consecutive year there. We always l play the 3 Legends courses, and 2 or 3 "traveling" courses nearby. We go with either 24, 28, or 32 guys.

The condos are great, the only thing I've learned is to call the day before and insist on a first floor unit. Dragging your clubs, groceries, beer cases and drunk friends up a flight of stairs every day gets old. The units are clean, comfortable and so convenient when you're playing onsite that day. They have a washer/dryer and coffee pot in the units which for me is a big plus. Each bedroom has two beds so there is no BS over who in the foursome gets the king sized bed master suite like some other places.

The breakfast is fine. You can get eggs to order from the waitress (who knew?). The coffee and juice is perfect, the service is fast and for the most part the buffet food is pretty good. It's not the Ritz, but for a boys golf trip, it fits right in. I'm a fan of the frosted flakes with 3 over easy eggs and a some chocolate milk. (yeah, I'm a health nut on vacation)

You can use your lunch tickets for sandwiches at the turn with a bag of chips, or get a sit down lunch with a menu sandwich. Go for option two, the burgers are pretty good!

The courses are great. Like ALL tracks, the pace of play can become an issue. But, it's March, we're golfing, life's good.

After the rounds, we settle all bets and contests over beers back at the clubhouse.

The location is fine. Because of it's acreage, it does take at least 5 minutes just to get to the main road. To go anywhere offsite requires wheels. Some places are closer than others.

The Legends probably isn't the most luxurious place you'll ever see, but the courses are great fun, the practice facilities top notch, and the food is pretty good.

I've played better courses, eaten better food, and stayed at finer facilities, BUT, for the money paid and memories made, the Legends absolutely fits the bill.

For an inclusive boys golf trip... well, this will be our 9th or 10th year.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
