On Ancala: Definitely need to play more than once....you need to know the lines off the tee and how big or small the fairway may be.

Condition of the fairways were decent. Greens were good but way to shaggy. Very hard to read as well, I had putts that broke completely opposite what I thought(our whole group did).

I laughed at 9 and 18....ASU....can't Dye do anything else? I didn't care much for the par 3's from the tips!! I walked up to the next two boxes and felt that they were much better from 1 or 2 boxes up. I just don't think there is any need for a 225y par 3 that you can hardly see!!

All in all it was decent...I don't think I would play it again, unless there was a really good deal. I personally prefer Red Mountain Ranch over Ancala as far as Dye courses. But could be because it was the first time and as I mentioned, off the tee it was hard to figure out the lines on a little over half the holes.

Thanks for the review Joe. Let us know if something like this pops up again. While Ancala is not high up on my list, it is still a course I would like to "check off" if the opportunity arises.

Joes review sums it up pretty well. I've played it prob 10-15 times, the first time it kicked my a** as there are some tricky hidden fairway bunkers and some of the lines off the tee are hidden as well. Wen I played it, the greens were rock solid and FAST, made it very difficult. I remember thinking w same thing about 8 and 18, hello Karsten.

Likewise. I collect logo golf balls of course that I've played and it's not a course that I am excited about playing but just want to check it off the lie. Please let us know again if this comes up again.
