Anyone tried it. Thinking of getting one but would like to know if it's just a gimmick.

recently purchased one and so far am really liking it. i haven't yet made it to the range to see the results, but it is easy to tell whay you should be doing in the swing and the "proper grip" grip helps a lot.

it definetly will help with on plane back swings and lets you know if you've released properly or got the wrist c*** properly by the clicks on the magnetic balls. this is also great for tempo, and the club does weigh more than a standard club which is nice too. the videos that go with it are very good and talk about a lot of fundementals, including posture.

would definetly recomend.

My friend has a swing setter and I have tried it a couple of times. Although I was only swinging it indoors, it does give you instant feedback. If you do not hear the clicks at the same time then you know your tempo is off. I'm sure with enough practice you could make some big improvements.

Great product. Love it. Gits me in the right postion at top, and gives me good tempo.

I have been using one of these for a few months and it certainly helps.

Dont listen to the claims that it only takes six minutes to do the drills to do this right it takes at least half an hour per session.

Having initially thought that the tempo timing was the least useful part of it I now think that it has helped enormously. A couple of lessons with a top teaching pro here highlighted that my tempo was out and the Swing Setter has been a great way to improve that. I am now hitting shots much better and more crisply (at least on the range!).

The grip is great and the extra weight is also useful for a pre-round or range stretch or indeed in building up flexibility. Overall a really useful training aid and the DVD is a bonus. My wife however hates that I use it in the kitchen in the evenings and disturb her TV viewing with all the clicking.....

The swingsetter is an excellent training aid that definitely helps those who lay the club off at the top of the backswing. However the swingsetter can be fooled by a rapid backswing, but when used properly its irreplaceable.

I seem to have to swing the club very fast in the backswing (far too fast to be normal) in order to get the top magnet to click. Does anyone have any opinion on this?

I haven't used the trainer for a full season yet, but I agree with most of the comments regarding the backswing action. I do think that the trainer does seem to promote too quick of a backswing and transition, but it does deliver on grip, release, & somewhat with the swing plane --- definitely falls short of tempo and backswing.

Tempo - I haven't found much better than training with the Tour Tempo tracks.
Backswing - Mirror work and tempo drills.

If you do the drills as outlined on the DVD and in the manual, and are someone who should be swinging using leverage, then the Swingsetter is AWESOME.
I can't say enough good things about it.

Excellent for Tempo.

The original was better than new "pro" version. The original helped with tempo and contact at the downswing because it had a second click thing.

The new version, while you can use it at the range i don't like. Only helps with angle/tempo of backswing which you can find with cheaper aids. I don't know why they make aids for grip as just reading a few books and its easy to get down. I guess some beginners still need it and that is why this is for the uber beginner. Not someone who has read a few books/ taken a few lessons. I also don't like using an aid to hit a ball as i don't focus on other things. I use an aid to engrain muscle memory.

I just bought one of these at the Goodwill store. It looks to be in fantastic shape. It did not come with instructions or the DVD.....

If anyone has a booklet or DVD that I could borrow or copy, I would be forever grateful. Of course I would pay for any shipping and associated costs.

I have looked all over the web for this information but can't seem to find anything.

I picked one up from the Goodwill recently ($4). I have been using it in conjunction with my " Inside Aproach" (GW $5). The two training aides together have really benn grooving my tempo and my swing plane. While I have seen some results, my short game still stinks.
