Callaway X Forged - Top of Bag Gapping

Hey guys, for those of you playing the Callaway X Forged or similarly lofted irons, how do you have the top of your bag set up? I'm considering making a move to them but i'm not sure about the gap between the 23 degree 4 iron and my 19 degree hybrid. My current 4 iron is 21 degrees and my 5 iron is 24. The X Forged are about 2 degrees weaker on those clubs and degree weaker on all the others up to the PW which is the same as mine at 45. So my wedge setup will be the same, just wondering about the other end. I could possibly have them strengthened a degree and opt for a different 4 iron like the apex or rogue. Just curious what others are doing. Thanks.

try hitting the entire set 4-P on a monitor with your 19 hybrid. I like the gapping of the x-forged to be honest. I'm tired of the huge gaps with game improvement and distance irons. I also hit some MD4 wedges while i was there hit the 50 degree nearly as far as the xforged P wedge, so for me it would be the 52 and 56. I flushed the 8,9,P so

Just look at my signature, I have found that so far, this evens out my

Distances very nice. I can say that I do not seem to have any blank yardages

That I can not cover, the hybrid goes a little further than a standard 4 iron, but fits

Great between the 5 iron and 5 wood distances,

New problem. I found a ridiculous deal on a brand new set of the 2013 x forged irons at a local Dick's and was forced to buy them, haha! They must have been sitting in the back room for a few years and somebody forgot about them. Now the real problem is they are even weaker lofted than the new x forged irons. The pitching wedge is only a degree weaker than my current irons, but from there everything is more traditional lofts and about 2 to 3 degrees weaker. The 4 iron is 24 degrees which would leave a pretty big gap to my 19 degree hybrid. The set also came with a 21 degree 3 iron but I'm pretty sure I can't handle that consistently and I don't have room in the bag anyway. I should probably just sell them but I NEEEEED them!!!!!! What should I do?

I am using the X Forged UTs in 18° and 22° (21° bent 1° weak) and then going to a 26° 5i - 46° PW, 50°, 54°, & 58°. I will, at some point, get on a launch monitor and go through the bag, making sure that the average carry distances fall into predictable ranges and then bending a touch, here or there, where necessary.

If you got a ridiculous deal...... just play them. If you don't like em, just sell em. Probably won't lost too much money.

Don't get so concerned about the lofts either. Hit the clubs and see your real gaps. just because the hybrid is 19 degrees doesn't necessarily mean you need a 21, 22, or 23 degree club. You never know...... you might hit the new 4 iron with more penetrating/boring flight than you think and it might end up okay.

Honestly, I also have the X Forged 13's, in the Florida bag, and my gapping is pretty close to what the 18's are, you need to get your real yardages with any set you are putting together, once you do that, gapping clubs is easy, do not gap with degrees written on the club, gap in the distances that you produce swinging the club. Any simulator

at a pro shop will do.

I would recommend hitting them first as not all clubs are going to produce the same launch with a given loft. a forged club with higher COG will produce a lower ballflight even if it has the same loft as a club with a larger sole and lower COG. Also, forged and cast clubs create different amounts of trampoline effect. I wouldn't strictly look at just loft.

I'm playing Callaway X-14's 5-P with the 5i being 26 degrees. My first hybrid is a 23 degree Callaway X Hot 4h. My 4h is about a 200 carry and the 5 iron maxes out at about 175, leaving a gap at around 190 yards. I've found I can cover that gap fairly easily by choking up on the 4h or hitting a low runner 5 that chases on if it's an unguarded front. With this setup I can carry 4 wedges so there's a club for every shot in the scoring zone.
