Picked up a set of p790 black irons and I love how they look, good size not to much offset a relatively consistent with distance control. Only complaint I have is with the shorter irons and ball flight. Would it be completely insane to bag a set up of a gapr mid 4, 6/7 p790 and 7-pw in the 730's?

It wouldn't be insane, but you would definitely have to do some loft tweaking to fill your gaps. The p790 8 iron is 35*, while the p730 7 iron is 35*, so you literally have a full club difference in loft at some points.

There isn't a club difference in the bag setup proposed by the OP. The transition is a 790 7-iron (30.5 deg) to a 730 7-iron (35 deg).

Oh, I didn't notice that part. Then yeah it could work, that being said having two 7 irons would bother me to no end but if OP is okay with it go for it lol

Resale would probably be an issue unless you plan on keeping them forever.

Played with the set up today and I was a little weirded out with the two 7 irons but surprisingly it wasnt that bad. Only problem I found was the 790 was definitely a little hotter off the face. Only going to a 6 iron it gave it a one length type of feel.
