Glass Bead Blasting

Is there anyone that can just glass bead blast a Scotty I’ve been working on? I live in Buffalo, NY and every place I’ve called only does sand or steel blasting so not the right finish. I’d send it away but none of the refinish places will just blast it, they are requiring further customizations and the quickest they could do it is 4-5 weeks.

I know it’s a shot in the dark, but figured I’d throw it out there.

I don't know anything about bead (or sand) blasting, but it looks like you can purchase a small bead blaster on eBay for fairly reasonable. It'd obviously probably cost more than sending it off, but maybe not that much more....plus you have the machine for any future work or even doing some small work on the side since no one else in the area offers the service.

I have a set up...haven't used it enough yet to be comfortable doing someone else's putter though...Here is the Method Matter I just did

I am about to run my first test putter through my setup that I just put together. It is definitely cheaper to send it off instead of trying to do it yourself if you only plan to do it once.

I can do it for you. I found beads that resemble the closest finish to stock Camerons. Has it been grinded and prepped already?

What's your bead/PSI setup? I found some good glass beads on ebay that looks pretty close to stock @ around 40 PSI.

I know silica sand blasting is a No-No, but I mask up and do it in my yard. I go at 60psi and use the harbor freight hand held gravity blaster(red). I have a 8gal roughly 4.2cfm @ 80psi air compressor. I use the utility sand from menards and follow the blasting up with a 000 steel wool polish. It makes a glossy satin finish that resembles Scotty satin. Here's my Byron 612 that was originally a shiny brushed finish, now is glossy satin.

What beads are you using? I have the media from Harbor Freight and it leaves a really chalky, dull finish.
