After losing balls in the leaves...

...this winter, I on a whim, picked up a dozen Srixon Soft Feel balls while strolling through the golf shop. Love pounding the Snell MTB-X. But our course has lots of those giant leaves like off of ash trees, fig trees...and my Adidas shoes pick them all up. Looks like I'm wearing snow shoes out there. What should I expect from the Soft Feels? Something like a Project S? Get Sum?

It will play similar to all 2 piece distance balls. IMO project S is softest, then Soft Feel and get sum the firmest. Soft Feel spins the most for me. It's a good non-urethane ball.

Go spikeless? We switch to red balls for visibility in the dim winter sun.

I love the Soft Feels in the warm weather, they are long for me and have a nice chipping action if you play a low running chip. Let me know how they play in the cold weather. What color are you playing? I went from white to yellow and can't wait to play them. I did not care for the Project S matte. Maybe, the white is ok.

haha we must have the same shoes, my pick up leaves better than a leaf vacuum.

Another cheap great option in my opinion are the Maxfli Softflis...get the green or pink options, very easy to find.

I'm not trying to side-track OP's query, just offering a supporting nod to (cheap) 2-piece balls.

I live in the Frozen Tundra near Buffalo, NY. I play 2 different ball combinations in our 3 seasons. In season 2, defined as "when the grass is finally warm, dry, short and green," I game from tee to green my multi-piece urethane ball which plays to my strength in the short game. In season 1 - March, April, maybe May :( - when the ground is very soft and the rough unmowable, it is very easy to lose a ball embedded deep in the mud, even on shots where I "know" where the ball landed. In season 3, leaves are falling all over the place, and the grounds crew is not as zealous as it was in high summer, so that losing a tee ball or fairway wood is too easy. In these seasons, I play my m-p gamer on all shots from 150 yards in, and a soft cheap 2-p surlyn ball elsewhere. Who needs aggravation?

Lest any purists read this and fall to their fainting couches over my disregard of the rules, pls understand that my usual game is almost always 9, or 7, or 13 holes in "practice mode." I do not use this strategy if playing for score.
