Who all still makes new persimmon woods?

Is Louisville the only company that still makes real woods? I have a urge to throw a driver and some real woods back in the bag this year and being a lefty limits my choices.

Far as I know, Louisville is the last manufacturer still making persimmons. Did I read somewhere (from the foggy memory bank) that Tad Moore might introduce non-hickory persimmons??? One is going to pay a fair penny for new Louisville's though. Perhaps the expense is a non-issue. Depends on what you're looking for.

If it was me, which it isn't, but if it were. I would do some eBay perusing over the course of the next few months. Some time until golf season commences again in Illinois, unless you head to warmer climes. Lefty persimmons periodically show up there. Perhaps not classic, old school persimmon like 50's era Macs. But enough to likely find some suitable candidates with prudent shopping. Citations are very nice persimmons, reasonable plentiful, and are usually a good value. Many of my persimmons have been found at thrift stores, estate sales, CL. etc. on the cheap. Then again, I'm right handed. Not noting the lefty's that may have been available. Becomes something of a "thrill of the hunt" sorta thing.

Playing persimmons on occasion is a uniquely contrarian approach to playing at golf. Hitting a ball "on the screws" is has no equal with modernist gear.

Re: hitting it on the screws.....I have a maple laminated PING ZING driver with a graphite shaft. Center struck shots "ring in my loins".

I think Louisville Golf is your choice, but another vote for contacting Tad Moore. He might build you what you need.

Condorgolf.com is another, but I have no idea if they are reputable.

Bob Burns still makes them too. You can get persimmon or laminated maple.

If you want a lefty persimmon, I'd be happy to send you a Honma driver I've got (stiff shaft, Hagane Steel, S-2 I think). It came with 5 other right-handed persimmons. It's in OK condition, and it might worth giving it a hit before you decide to splurge on a shiny new club.

Honma made some pretty nice persimmon clubs back in the day. I've got three of their drivers in rotation, and a great steel-shafted 3w and an excellent carbon shafted 4w. Oh, and a funky carbon-shafted 3w.

Thanks for the offer a while back Catchy. I've owned a lot of persimmon stuff over the years but like the idiot I always sell them. I think I'll keep watching the bay for a nice used Louisville.

What kind of Louisville Golf edition is this? It says authentic series, but the other authentic series I've seen look different, and without screws.

that goes back quite a ways, 80s or 90s I would guess, there was a set of irons to go with the woods, very old school profile, very sexy.

Those were the first generation 50's Series component heads. Built a few sets of those in the late 70's, early 80's. About the finest heads available to custom clubmakers back then.
