2:1 epoxy ?

I have a 2:1 golfworks epoxy syringe, but no plunger. Is the hole larger on the bigger epoxy tube (black cylinder, resin?) and by pushing equally on both tubes you achieve the 2:1 mix? This is for a putter, so not as concerned about a perfect 2:1 mix, but would like to get it close.

If it's 2:1 by weight, I use a gram scale and a square of cardboard for mixing. I place the cardboard on the scale and zero. Then I pour Part A until I get 2 grams and zero. Then I pour Part B until I get 1 gram. Mix for a minute and you're ready to go. The little scale cost me $12 bucks I think and it's very useful throughout the club building process.

For the syringe tubes, which is part A? The black I assume?

I would imagine that it's labeled on the bottles along with the mixing ratio so you know how to properly mix it. I think yours is a different epoxy, mine is technically 1.7:1, I just used your numbers that I would weigh to in my process.

The cylinders are different sizes so that the plungers moving down at the same rate produces two different amounts of epoxy, that ideally being 2 to 1 in this case.

More importantly, I'd think the holes at the bottom are different sizes, correct? So if dispense about a 1 inch line of each, the resin will have 2x the amount of material in that one inch, assuming even pressure was applied. I really just need a matching plunger, but just putting together a putter and don't want to wait several days for the part. I guess the worst that can happen is I waste a bit of epoxy.

There are very few (if not none) that are 1:1 or 2:1 by weight. Usually the density is different for the A and B so if you are going to measure by weight, you have to know exactly the difference and do the math. You can make a huge mixing mistake by assuming that the weights are the same. If you don't know for certain the density, then mix by volume.

The holes are the same size. If you move the plunger 2mm, the larger tube will push out a larger volume of material than the smaller tube (2:1 to be precise). If you are going to do it without the plunger (which I don't recommend), try to move the tubes the same amount of distance.

Yeah, that makes sense, don't know what I was thinking re: hole sizes. I ended up making about a 1.5" long line of each. The resin line looked to contain quite a bit more material, hard to say it was 2:1 though. Hopefully it hardens up ok, I have the leftovers on cardboard with the popsicle stick to find out. If this was anything except a putter I'd just have waited for the plunger.

You can take a 1 to 1 plunger and make it into a 2 to 1 plunger with a box cutter, just shave one side down a little until it fits. And I disagree with Socrates, I think the difference is on the dispensing end, not the plunging end, as long as both sides are pressed the same amount. How is pressing the 2mm plunger going to dispense any more than the 1mm if the holes are the same size?

Simple volume. For a tube that is 3/4" in diameter and you have a certain volume per mm of tube. If you have a tube that is only 3/8" in diameter you have a smaller volume of liquid per mm. When you press the plunger down the same number of mm on each side (and since liquids do not compress), you have to have more liquid be extruded from the larger tube than the smaller one.

And I measured the apertures on a 2:1 tube and they are the same.

Works out like this:

Cylinder 1 volume = V1 = pi r1^2 h

Cylinder 2 volume = V2 = pi r2^2 h

Let's define cylinder 1 as having r1 = 1 and cylinder 2 having r2 = 1.414, then the ratio of volumes is...

V2/V1 = [pi (1.414)^2 h] / [pi (1)^2 h]

pi and h cancel (h same for both cylinders if same distance pressed for both) leaving,

V2/V1 = [(1.414)^2] / [(1)^2] = 2:1
