Gamer v2 ball w/ more short game spin?

First round out was since a couple years ago. Bought a dozen Top flite gamer balls as it was my budget ball of choice the last time I played consistently and was able to pull off a 91 yesterday. Was long and straight off the tee and good spin off my irons when I had a GIR. Liked the trajectory off my driver but was bordering on pretty high with my irons (not really a big deal). Also liked the click-iness off the putter.

Only thing that I wasn't too crazy about was the lack of spin on chips and pitches. Ran out a little more than I wanted and was rarely pin high after short game shots.

Is there any ball that has all the characteristics off tee, irons, and putter but with improved short game spin? Price is secondary to performance but cheaper is always better!

Thanks!

E5 is close. Honestly, there are so many cheap urethane options, I doubt I will ever play anything else.

From doing my research, it looks as though the e5 is a high trajectory ball and spins quite a bit off the driver. At my SS (105-110) and height that I hit my clubs, I don't need added trajectory on my shots as I'm afraid they might balloon on me (especially in the Austin wind we've been getting recently).

Do appreciate the response though!

Agreed, the e5 is completely different. I would recommend the B330-RX. It is probably the lowest spin urethane ball on the market. For me it performed similarly to multilayer surlyn balls like the Gamer V2 off the tee but with slightly more greenside spin.

Thanks for the recommendation!

What are the differences between the older RX and the 2012 RX? I'm gonna check out the golfsmith near ms to see if there are any closeouts from last season.

In addition to the dual dimples on the 2012 version, I believe the overall compression is slightly lower and cover slightly harder than the previous version.

I have been going back and forth between Gamer, E6, and the RX, and while there are some differences, I don't see it being all that noticeable. To me the Gamer feels/sounds best, with the Bridgestones being a little thuddish.

My next experiment will be either the QStar or (most likely) the Hex Chrome.

Good luck on finding the pre 2012 RX on close out at Golfsmith. My Golfsmith has been out of them for three months.

You may want to try the HEX CHROME and/or TP3 both are urethane ball.

My Golfsmith did have the McGregor VIP at 12.99 a dozen. Three piece urethane ball, that USGA conforming ball list shows as "medium" for driver spin and "high" for iron spin.

Have you played the rxs? If so, what would be the differences between the rx and rxs? Thx.

Has anyone tried the VIP? How does it compare to the aforementioned balls (RX, V2, etc)?

Hex Chrome is one ball I've been looking at as well.

Can't swing a club for the next week after straining my back lifting weights...

S stands for spin. So, an "S" designated ball will spin more off the driver and around greens more than it's non "S" counterpart.
