Titleist vs. Ball Deals

Now that the buy three, get one free Pro V1 sale is on for the next month ($36 a dozen) is it worth it? Or do you still look for better deals on tour, urethane covered balls?

I've tried others and always come back to Titleist so at this point I don't even bother. Ordered my 4 dozen this morning

I think you will end up closer to $38-$39/dozen but at any rate there are exremely similar balls available for $20-$25/dozen or sometimes much less if you shop around

The 4-for-3 thing is only a bargain if you have pre-decided you are only interested in a ball that says "Titleist" on it. If you are simply looking for a good value-for-money proposition based on performance you will buy one of the much cheaper options every time.

The "Titleist" logo on a golf ball always comes with a price premium attached. Always has, always will.

I was on this all morning. Ended up with 12 dozen total so I am set for the year. Live in Florida so play all year round. Seemed like the best deal was Dicks at $143 per four dozen plus tax of $8 but free shipping.

Unfortunately, the only other balls I really like are the Srixon Z star and the Volvik iV; however, the Volviks and Srixon's could not be had for the same price.

Update, golfballs.com is $3 cheapers than Dicks.

I don't think any ball is worth that. Anything more than $20 is too much IMO. Z Stars, FG Tour, Penta, etc etc are all just as good for me and much cheaper.

I've tried a number of other balls, but always come back to the ProV's. I usually use 2-3 balls (lose 1, take 1-2 out of play which I give to my son) per round, so the extra cost is not an issue.

By the way, I ordered 12 dozen double digit, personalized ProV's from TGW for an average of $37.30 including shipping. Same balls at golfballs.com were over $40/dozen.

IMO, Bridgestone, Srixon, Callaway and Taylor Made all make tour level balls that are equal to or better then Titleist Pro V's. I buy my tour type balls at the end of the year at bargain prices. I find no reason over spend on Titleist balls. And I feel no need to play a ball just because it says Titleist on it.

I rarely lose balls as well, just the random cart path. I still don't see any reason to pay 2x for V1's when there are plenty of cheaper options. I can understand that for some people, the prov1 is the best ball, but so many people buy them just because they are popular that they don't even realize there are better balls for them. Those probably are the same guys who walk in on release day and buy the new TM driver in 9.5 Stiff without being fitted or even swinging it because it is popular and that is what they always do.

Question about the ProV deal. Do I have to order personalized or is it available at any stores? I was told at PGA SS today it's a special order only deal.

I have ordered quite a few for my members and no one complains about the price.

Golf balls are golf balls. but if you want to give yourself the best chance to make the best shot possible playing a Titleist assures that the golf ball you are playing is the highest quality possible.

I do really like the prov1, but when you can get tour level urethane golf balls like the lethal, z star, 20xi for well under 20/dozen when you find the right deal, it's not worth the price difference

The ProV1x is a fine ball. But the TM Lethal is just as good I got several dozen of those for $25 per dozen (with free shipping and no tax).

Special order only. They must be personalized.

Does anyone think personalizing them with " ____________" would work as an alignment aid?

At 3 balls.com you can get Lethals 2 for $50. Pro v's, even with the deal, are still virtually 4 dozen for $150. You could get 6 dozen Lethals for the same price. I'll take quantity and quality over just quality any day!

I like the Pro V1x but the ONLY time I've ever bought them was the 4 for 3 with business personalization.

However, I do buy logo overruns or PRACTICE ones when they're < $30/dzn ....

FYI - I just ordered the Titleist deal from carlsgolfland.com for a total of $125.97. Or $31.49/doz. Hard to beat that price!

Definitely hard to beat that price. If you like these, might as well stock up.

I just got the new version of the z star xv with spin skin on clearance at my local academy for 29.99 per dozen. They had a bunch. I like them just as much as the prov1 x

You sure they are the new model? I haven't seem them anywhere for that price. I have seen all of the previous model Srixon for 29.99, though.

For sure the new ones. The old ones were priced at 19.99 but they were sold out. The new ones were priced at 39.99 but had a clearance sticker under them so i took them to the scanner and they rang up 29.99. I got 2 dozen but i am probably going to get more.

I picked up some recycled pro v1s cheap. Going to see what the fuss is about.
