Just wondering what you guys are doing to help sales over the Christmas holiday season? I am a shop owner and just wondering what you are pulling in to help sales....thanks

Best way I found to make more money in the golf industry during the holidays, was to get a part time job.

No theres guys on here that do, just most of us run the track we don't sell the shoes. Someone will speak up.

 

As a consumer... things that bring me in are good deals on top line equipment. and some kind of random snare. Our local pro shop does the "spin the wheel" thing on Fridays" Stuff on the wheel is 30%, 20%, 10% off, free box of balls (usually choice of mid level ball), free round of Golf, club golf shirt, etc. They did a putt for a ticket deal once too and sold a ton of putters that week.

 

A top line club raffle might bring some people in ... a free ticket with any purchase over say $30 and then be present to win. It would get me in there twice if you were giving away a 09 TM TP.

Here's one that's worked for me in the past...We came up w/ a customer "Christmas wish list" that we gave to our regular customers who spend a bunch of money w/ us throughout the course of the year. On the flyer is a list of things they need/want and also the email address of the person/people who will be doing the buying for them. Around the first of December we emailed the "buyers" and told them we had a list of things the person wanted for Christmas and if they came in and asked to see the list we'd give them a % off their total purchase (some exceptions). Even if you don't wind up selling the stuff on the list, we almost always at the very least sold a gift certificate.

We lowered the price of out tools to the retailers to help with sales. And it's working!

Sorry for the snide earlier comment, But we did the same thing as BDLz idea posted earlier. It worked really well for us too, but he may have to start now for next season. Another thing we would do was to accept courses pro shop winning credits, a little tricky, but you can pull this one off. Build a relationship with the local course opperators, the consumer can transfer their credits to your shop, or cash out at the course, (they lose 30% value, or whatever). they receive a certificate with a cash value printed on it, bring it into your store only and spend it like cash. At the end of each month we would take the credit slips to each course and they would pay the invoices. The course keeps whatever % you can agree on and you move product, win! win! Pro shops are making % on never having to stock products, deal with closeouts/discontinued items, and you get the consumer to enter your store. As you already know, the consumer spends more than credit voucher is worth, again, win! win!
