Looks pretty good, but I'm sure it's much better in person. Seems the color might be off a touch in the pictures, probably from the lack lighting indoors looks like. Try something outside, you always want to show off your work in the best way possible! Keep it up :clapping:

Nice work! To even out the fades, use the smoke on the edges, one drop of clear in the middle and then mix it all up with your applicator needle. If you add the same amount (in drops) to each dot, they will come out the same shade and hue.

They always look better in person! Digital pics will emphasize any slight variations.

If you are refering to the circles having a fade, there is no technique involved there. The key is to use Tamiya 'Smoke', which I believe is their X-19 paint. It is basically a translucent black that is pretty thin. I just applied enough to cover each circle. The front circles have a raised center so the paint channels towards the perimeter, making the center appear lighter than the outer edge.

I like the smoke and white, but now feel that the head needs a little jazzing up. The problem I keep coming back to is liking the grip so much and having a hard time pairing another color to go with it. Also, just not brave enough to mess with the headcover ala Deerslayer.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Yes, Tamiya Acrylic paint. An easy find online or at a hobby store.

Acrylic, really? Won't that just flake off pretty easy? I use Testors enamel model paint myself. Actually I e-mailed Mizuno awhile back regarding the best option for iron touch up and they said this --- "Model paint, like the Testors product, is the best item for replacement paint fill." I tried some other enamel paint that was more just regular hobby stuff, didn't work the same for some reason.

What is the Tamiya brand paint used for? Is it a more durable paint than just regular arts and crafts acrylic?

That is probably more of a question for Deerslayer as he is the master-paintfill artisan. I have seen no durability issues thus far, but I am pretty sure it is their Acrylic paint. When I had to redo some areas, it didn't come off as easy as the original fill (using acetone).

Tamiya paint is easily as tough as what the OEM Cameron paint is. y e s.............it is an acrylic polymer paint that is VERY durable and remains glossy and what is it used for........high end models and train modeling. Tamiya is to Testors what Acura is to Honda or Lexus to Toyota.....you get the picture

BLACK is BACK! I have been buying them at Golfsmith and keeping a few around between the Black Baby T and the Black Dancing Cameron Grip. I paint fill those grips for them too. I have re-gripped a lot of them when the fill doesn't go with the OEM red grip.

My original version of the select just wasn't doing it for me...I felt like it was begging for a color splash. So last night I stripped it down and did a Red White and Blue paintfill. Really happy with how it came out. Will try and post pictures tonight. Looks very similar to the Scotty Team USA example on his site. The beauty of this whole process is you can always do and then redo...

This is for Deerslayer or anyone else who has used the Tamiya paint: Is it just me or does this paint seem softer than the OEM? I redid my Srixon wedges, Odyssey putter, and 585H, and the paint looks great, put clear overtop, still looks great, but even after days and days or drying the paint doesnt seem to harden? If pushed on it will show finger prints or marks. What have I been doing wrong?

I experianced a similar problem with testor - don't want to order a 1 oz bottle online for 3 dollors then pay 10 for shipping, LOL, but anyhow, after a good 24-30 hours it should harden - but then again I'm using enamel and not acrylic - acrylic is water based and enamel should be oil based if I'm correct - usually the oil should hold up better due to being uneffected with water. I don't get why tamiya is so much better than testors - no one I find has tamiya paint so it's not as accessable as some on this site would let us believe - I could drive 989 miles to get a bottle but that would be stupid when testors is stocked in almost every model store - tamiya isn't stocked not because its better, but because they are a much smaller company than testers.

I have found this paint very easy to find now that I know what I'm looking for. Almost any craft, hobby, or model store has it. Its quality is also much better that testors. As many people have stated too, testors doesn't make a clear color that match the new camerons. The tamiya paint is an exact match and probably the same paint cameron uses.

The only time I have had any effects like you speak of is when I did too thick of an overfill with clear too soon after the color coat. The sole of my sons X forged set is done in translucent red and he hits hundreds of balls a day. They show very little wear at all. If they were clean, the soles paintfill would look almost perfect. The Tamiya paints are as tough as any that I have used.
