Copper 006 w/soundslot

I just bought this Byron Flatstick off herd8497, an excellent seller by the way. I think Im in love, my Scotty just got bumped to second place. I love the finish and the milling marks. You can tell alot of time was involved to make this piece. Being in WV I had never heard of Byron Morgan, Now IM HOOKED. First time with the leather gripmaster grip and have to say that is very nice too. Anyway.... had to share this cause Im really excited.

Jesus.. I haven't even recieved my first Byron yet, but I am already thinking about ordering another custom. This finish will probaly be on the next Byron - its fcking amazing !

Ever played Sleepy Hollow in Hurricane? That was the first golf course I ever played about 20 years ago when I was 10.

My grandparents lived in a smelly little town called Nitro and were members @ Sleepy.

Unfortunately Ive never played Sleepy Hollow, It's private and you gotta have some bling to get in. It sucks because its the closest course to me and it supposed to be very nice. Yes, Nitro is smelly.

Does the copper darken/tarnish eventually (the way the Ping BeCu putters do) or is it protected somehow to stay polished like that?

 

I'm wondering if it's shiny to the point that it would be distracting in direct sunlight. Even if it was I could probably overlook it as that putter is beautiful.

I also have an 006 copper. The patina looks great. I had a lot of fun gun blueing mine to bring some more antique-ish look out then I used some tarn-x. You can do a lot to the copper then just use tarn-x to get it back to the original state. From all the pics I've seen the patina seems to come out different for each Byron copper. Here's some pics of how mine started out, and how it currently looks...

It's solid copper, not a finish. It's very durable. Copper is VERY soft so treat it with care as far as leaning on the putter or bag chatter.. the neck can bend. At first Byron wouldn't stamp the cavities because the face is so thin. I really did a lot of heating, blueing, skin oil, sunshine, etc to play with the colors. If I didn't like it a little tarn-x brought right back to the bright finish. This darker finish in the pics is how I've left it. It will probably get a little darker with age.

finalist, your byron looks gorgeous with the dark patina. If she rolls it anywhere near as she looks she must be one hell of a putter. ;)
