Players playing in college next year?

Any players out there going to play in college next year?? If so , what school?

i will be, but i haven't picked which school yet. I have two visits as of right now during spring break, but I hope I have a good start to golf season and I get a few more.

hey thanks, the team practices at conway country club. all i know about it is that it is private so if you could give me some more info that would be great because the website is weak. i cant wait to get down there and start playing but im looking forward to having another chance to really improve my game this summer before the season starts.

I've never played it so can't say much. I do know there is another course in Conway, Centennial Valley, that's pretty good. I've played it a couple of times. I really liked the back nine but the last time I played it a couple years ago they were building a bunch of houses so it's probably not as pretty as it used to be. Still a pretty decent course. Quite a few good couses within a easy drive.

Wow, most of the guys I play in tourneys with that aren't from the south never heard of sweet tea!

 

Doesn't matter, play the course and have fun.

What schools are you looking at? With a +3.2 I assume you can get it around the track a little bit.

I'd like to think, yeah, I can play a bit...

 

As far as schools, I don't really want to say because I'm not ready to narrow them down yet and, to be fair, it's hard to tell which are really interested in me, too. At this point all they can do is email and regular mail and watch in tourneys. Can't talk except during unofficial visits. I'll have a much better idea after June 1 when they can call and text. I can say I will be playing D1 at a good program in a good conference.

No kiddin? Nice! Coach Gray offered me a opportunity to come walk on if I wanted to next year. I chose to go the JC route and hopefully lower my handicap and raise my grades up a bit.

I'm only 15 but can someone tell me what my handicap should be at to play d1, I'm at about a 6 rightnow

+1 or higher probably but mostly consistent doing well in big tournies like ajga and sate and you will get looked at but it least scratch

Honestly, your handicap isn't really as important as how you play in tournament golf. I'm only like a 2.5 index but I can hang with most of the guys that are scratch because my handicap is based on mostly tournament rounds on tough courses. Honestly, just show that you have game and you can play in college.

Eh, kinda sorta. It all depends on the conference your in.

 

The Mountain West Conference is pretty tough and you'll see some good competition there. San Diego State is currently ranked 22nd and TCU is ranked 17th.

 

But get to the big conferences, and a 2.5 wouldn't do much I'm afraid. Like the Pac 10 for example, you have to be able to score really really well.

 

But yeah, how you handle tournament golf against quality competition says a lot!

I'm thinking about walking on next year at CCSU we are D1, I'd be a junior next year and my major courses are starting so i'm not sure i will be able to but i sure want to.

I am freshman in college but I am transferring because I got a couple of offers somewhere else, if you do some research and put your name out there it should work out.

That's tight man. I was talking to the coaches there for a while. Seems like a really nice place for both golf and academics.
