The Putter collection:

My main gamer is my Edel E3, fully custom fit to me and what started me back on the blade train. Putter is

36" and counter balanced. Has an Edel Round grip on it.

Next is my Byron Morgan DH89, this is a lighter blade at 346g. It's 35" with a P2 React Tour Grip. Very light face milling for a firm and very audible feedback.

Putter collection continued:

I've always admired what Bettinardi has produced but LH options are pretty limited from them so I went hunting on eBay and local forums and landed these 2 beauties.

Both are 34" but I'm going to put a 1" extension on each followed by a Bettinardi Jumbo grip.

Bettinardi Studio SB-1 - made for Japan market I believe.

Bettinardi BB8 - Got this from the original owner, copper insert does soften the feel a bit but not mushy as I hate soft inserts. I also really like the square bumpers at address and might hunt more at this shape/style.

I also have a Cure CX1 but need to take better pics and another putter on the way but it's a mallet.

It's my first rangefinder and I've only used it 2 rounds but it's quite helpful. Takes no time at all to get a reading and i can easily get 2-4 reading in a few seconds. As for accuracy I don't have anything to compare to but a lot of reviews say it's just as accurate as anything else. For the price I don't think you can go wrong with this brand.

Nice setup man, all those putters are beauty but that Edel is just rad looking. How custom fit is it? Like do they determine where the weight is removed from the head based on your stroke? Thatd be wild.

Thanks it's a great putter, literally no need for the others but I just like putters.

So I did a full fitting with an Edel rep/fitter near me. All the heads are the same 345g at the start except "The Brick" which is 335g and then start with a 12g weight and go from there. They can go down to a 6g or up to 21g to get the right weight for you. You can also buy those weights to adjust after if you wish.

The head weight depending on the fitter will base it on your distance control or what they see fit, my fitter did it based on my distance control. We started with the 12g and no counter balance then moved to the 6g which saw better distance control then we played with counter balance which helped even more which Edel like to do and landed on the perfect putter for me. This was also after figuring out alignment mark, neck, and length for me to basically line up to where I want every time.

So it's basically a putter made for me and around me not many can provide that experience which is why I went with Edel. Not saying they're the only one that can do that but it was the only brand I could get to without flying or driving several hours to get a full custom fitting done with them.

^ That's awesome. I've not done any kind of fitting before but look forward to eventually. Kinda nice for the putter to know for sure that it best suits your stroke and your tendencies.

It is. A standard putter fitting where they kinda give you options of what works for you is still good but when the putter is built around and to your specs that's just another level and why I did it. Will see how it really works once the greens firm up and smooth out after aeration where I am.

Pretty much I kinda did b**** about the weather/green conditions on Saturday when putting. But in the end it was half me and half the conditions. But will see how many sub 30 putt rounds I have this year. So far 1/2 which I'll take.

Thanks it was a great find, local find, great deal, guy was original owner and babied the putter.

I'll eventually get an extension and a new grip put on it then game it a bit. I really like the shape of the putter at address, the square bumpers really suits my eyes.

I didn't mention this before but I decided to go with more blade putters after not being happy with mallets. I have been enjoying my Edel E-3 so far this year on the course. I've been comfortable lining it up and all that but I have a feeling at some point I'll want a larger footprint to look down at but I don't want a huge mallet cause anything outside 20ft I just can't get going.

So after some research, in store testing, etc I came across that category of: Half/Mid Mallet or Players/Tour Mallet or whatever each company calls them. I like them at address vs the full mallets, I feel like longer putts I wouldn't feel like I'd have to kill the ball to even get close.

I'll give the Argolf a try for a while before I add or try out some other similar putters of the same shape. I do have some on my list I want to try but being a lefty some of them are hard to come across of at a fair price. Funny enough if I end up liking this shape more I might end up regretting not getting the Edel E-1 or I'll just go buy an E-1 if I can't get my preferred options first.

> How do the 585 and 785 compare and what made you decide to go with a mixed iron bag? Fellow lefty considering the same irons.

The 585 will be more forgiving and hotter off the face but not crazy hot you'll feel the ball. The 785 you don't get that face hotness but it's forgiving for what they are. Standing over the ball they're very similar, I don't notice much difference or lack confidence with the 785 irons. Some rounds if I'm playing a short course I'll hit them more than the 585 and I strike them well.

Reason I went with them is that I wanted a little less loft and a bit more spin on my lower irons. The 585 and 785 are both lower spinning irons in general so I wanted to get the most spin I could get into the green while comfortably hitting the irons.

The 585 and 785 fit me perfectly right now as I have a bit of a steeper swing, that v-sole helps a ton if you have a steep swing to not get stuck but if you're a flatter swinger it could be an issue so 100% get fitting for these. If my swing changes in the next few years which it might I'll probably be into something else within 2 or 3 years.
